<![CDATA[Old Primary School merged or disappeared?]]>Does anyone know what happens if your old primary school has already been merged or closed down? So the parent does not have any alumni school for the kiddo to go to? :shock:


Let's say my hubby's school A was merged with school B and renamed as school C etc etc since he left the school...is he considered as alumni of school C even though the school's name was A when he was there?

I understand from other threads in KSP that if one's primary school was merged to become a new school, your child can register under Phase 2A of the new school. I am trying to find out if Dorset Primary School was merged with another school, and if that \"new\" school accepts girls - i.e. either mixed or girls' school. I searched MOE's website, but I can't seem to find any historical list of merged schools, and the \"new\" schools they became.

Dorset Primary School at Gentle Road closed in end-1980. Probably most of the boys chose to be taken in by Catholic High School (CHS). The girls went to other schools. The lower primary CHS students used the Gentle Road compound for a short period while the rest were at the premises of the St Peter and Paul at Queen Street.

Are you referring to pei hwa Presbyterian primary? It is located at upper Bukit timah, near to the market. Pei tong primary school is at Clementi diagonally facing the police station.

The list is not exhaustive. I know of one school that was merged with another school but the name of the old school is not mentioned in the list of the merged school.

So, still best to call MOE.

MOE maintains a list of affected schools but Dorset Primary School is not in it.

As a result of dipping enrollment, Clementi Primary School (CPS) was formed in 2001 by amalgamating 2 schools, namely Clementi North Primary School and Clementi Town Primary School (CTPS). So if I was from CTPS, am I considered as alumni of CPS to qualify for Phase 2A(2)?


Best check with the school directly to get better answer. MOE they would give you a generral answer most of the time. :imconstipated:
