hey, i was a cedarian that graduated in 2013. i took up japanese and even though i quit in sec 3, the rest of those who took japanese (3) continued onto taking it at O levels. my classmate was the only other person taking german in the cohort and no one else for the other foreign languages! granted the numbers were far greater in lower sec, japanese was still predominantly the most popular language to take followed by french.

are the Science Teachers (in VJC) stronger, better in teaching Biology or Chemistry ?
(between Bio vs Chem)

How is quality of A level Tr, like ?
Do the A level Tr really teach ?
are the Tr hardworking, or are they \"bochap\" kind, teach little, yet expecting parents to send their kids for \"A\" level tuition to score, in Science subjects ?

I don't hv any kids in VJC but have friends whose kids were from VJC. They speak very highly of the JC n their kids did very well in A levels, obtaining scholarships.

So I guess the JC must have a very strong programme n resources to constantly produce good A level results.

A collateral damage of IP program...they started late in the game? The 2 IP pioneers like RI/HCI is way ahead while VJ and NJ found it no choice but also started to take in student from sec1.

TJ IP would be a very small cohort compared to cedar and there will be really limited friends you can make.
The good thing is everyone knows each other, but competition is fierce, because everyone knows each other.

Cedar isn't that FAR from Marine Parade.

Actually I am an old girl and I do remember many of my friends staying in East Coast/ Marine Parade/ Opera Estate area. Bearing in mind we didn't have IP then so you can be assured all the girls went to the premises at Cedar Avenue and not VJC site. And they did much better than me in Olevels (i stay near Cedar hahaha). So yes someone says it depends on how driven you are and I totally agree.
Most Cedarians (99%) whom I know of have no regrets going to the school. The environment is competitive enough to ensure one stays focused and driven; yet it is at the same time not overly competitive to the point of being painful. Most of my friends and I still hold very fond memories of the school. Having said that, it can be stressful at times too. The school has very high expectations of their girls and hence there's a constant push for good grades. I guess it's the same with almost every good schools you can find in Singapore.

but clearly, the choice is yours. If at any point you feel you cannot cope w the stress in Cedar, then it's probably not the school for you. I heard these days school hours are very much longer (compared to my time), so it is very important that you must enjoy going to the school you love.

I stay in marine parade vicinity. Distance is not a problem if you are the self-driven type. Cedar is a good school with very vibrant atmosphere. More than 70% of cedarians in last year O level cohort (last batch) are eligible for top 5 JCs.

Yes its the VCA IP. I would prefer Cedar because of that too.Besides, many of my classmates and friends all want to go there, so I won't need to worry about company 😉

Since you need to travel there and back daily, and some/many days will end late, travel time will add to the length of your day. I don’t know what you base your preference on, but do weigh it against travel time.
