I think everyone here also agree all kids bite on recorders. Just how much only.  You have seen my kid's recorders. Theirs is pretty bad! So yours not so bad already! I would continue to let her use it too after all it's only a few more months. <br /><br /><br />But if it continues to become smelly, then it is a hygiene issue rather than the teethmarks. Also, unless she's in school, I usually remind my kids to brush their teeth before practicing on the recorder. The bad smell usually means there is some bacteria there. My dd, while she chews a lot on the recorder and it looks yucky, she does wash it quite often so it's not too smelly. <br /><br />If it continues to smell, I would think better Change it now. Don't want her to get sick.</blockquote></blockquote><br />Haha. Yeah. I washed it just the other day. Today smelly again. And I saw her blowing into it (making the whee whee noise) without holding it with any hands!!! That means she is biting it too otherwise it will fall out of her mouth!! Anyone else kids do this kind of thing? No wonder more and more teeth marks. Maybe ask her to "swallow" first and try to blow "dry" air? Then the recorder not so smelly? Dunno how to teach. Maybe other parents know but basically I think she is lowing a lot of saliva in the thing. Maybe that’s why smelly?</p>

Agree. SPwriting dd’s recorder!! So much bite marks. Like she was either really very nervous or hungry! Thought my dd one was bad! But I should find hers  and take a photo too! I think school teachers should teach that you blow a recorder and not bite it. Last time my teacher always scold us if she see us nibbling on our recorders. Then we also had to use the alto ones that belong to the school. Those we bite because not ours and she will scold us too! Haha. <br /><br /><br />I see the oceanrina is porcelain. My dd butter fingers. Sure drop and gone in 1 day!</p>

So brand conscious these days and while they sound ok to me, they claim the pitch is wrong. Some of the kids in my dd class got their recorders sent back when they bought no name ones. (I think popular also no name)  <br /><br /><br />And it appears every year on the school list. That’s why I am thinking of not buying one for every year. <br /><br />Hmm. So it’s not normal for kids to bite so hard and so much on the recorder? (Must talk to my dd tonight!) I thought their teacher made them practice a lot hence maybe that’s why she nervous and bite it. She comes back with nearly two new songs each week or sometimes in two weeks.</p>
