That means first, you have to call up the individual dental hospital or clinic yourself, inquire about the charges for making braces yourself, the rough estimated costs.
For orthodontic (braces) treatment, different hospital or clinic recommended inside this listing, will charge differently. Also depend on the type of braces your child select.

Then, after having made all the necessary inquires, compare the costs roughly, you settle on one of those recommended inside the list, & bring your child down with your referral letter, to see the orthodontist. Must make an appointment first.

Since every now & then, your girl need to go down let orthodontist check her teeth condition, if the costs is reasonable, try to choose one that is near your house, for convenience

I won’t recommend him unless your child’s case is severe/difficult, or that your child is super scared of pain, or has issues (like my child) such as an extremely strong gag reflex which makes obtaining a mould very challenging. However, skillwise I can say, he’s good.

If your budget is 4k, then I would advise looking around because a lot of other places are in that price range, including orthodontists and most dentists. As shared previously, my orthodontist would charge $5200 plus GST plus x-ray and 1st consultation - this easily comes up to at least $6k.

Say if you choose to go with another clinic, they would want to do their own x ray and wont want to use the ones you bring over from another clinic. So having them does not serve any purpose. Did you ask them to give to you? I would imagine if you had asked, they would give.

MerlionInGermany

Reply to Braces for kids on Sun, 13 Dec 2020 07:11:46 GMT

I personally think this is the best time to get braces done - everyone is veiled behind a mask and hence once will not have to be as self conscious.

My daughter recently got fitted with braces. I think you have to ask the clinic for all the costs, including x-rays, extractions, consultations, retainers and whether there are any other charges apart from the basic braces package. Get the quotation in black and white.

There are many clinics that can offer students packages at between 3.5 to 4k, all inclusive, for standard metal braces.

For my daughter’s case, we ended up going to an orthodontist who is a lot more expensive, because of his skill. His charges are $5200 plus GST, and this excludes x-rays, Top up another $1000 plus GST for ceramic braces. It was extremely expensive but we trust him. I had tried the School Dental Service route, as well as the NUS Dentistry route where they train Orthodontists but supervised by Professors (I wouldn’t recommend this route as the appointment slots are extremely limited and inflexible). Neither of them was able to obtain a proper mould of my child’s jaw as she has a very small jaw. Hence, I had no choice but to go to a ‘highly skilled’ orthodontist who was able to complete the procedure successfully. He previously treated / corrected my child’s cross bite.

He has overcrowding teeth and its very difficult for him to brush. I have called i.Dental because I saw their promotion online for students at $3,852. I thought it is quite reasonable and went ahead to book an appointment. To my shock, they actually quote me $5350 including GST for the cheapest kind of metal braces. This price is excluding extractions, retainers, etc… so different from their website. I was also told to pay $235.40 for the first consultation but the X-rays weren’t given to me. Is this normal? Can I ask for other recommendations because I felt that i.Dental at Ubi is extorting me.
