<![CDATA[What Skills Are You Teaching Your Kids ?]]>What Are You Teaching Your Kids ? Other than studying and exam skills…


Here is a list of what I hope my kids will understand early in life:

(1) The Maths of Compound Interests : So that they will not borrow too much and end up perpectually in debt.

(2) Always Read The Small Print (also known as There Is No Free Lunch): So that they will know all these marketing ploys, discounts, free gifts, lucky draws, sales are nothing but profit-making techniques.

(3) Give Way : In life, no need to always fight to win. Do good, give way, what goes around, comes around.

Understand to me doesn't mean empathise, it would simply be that what they are doing are evil deeds that harm, period. I don't believe in letting DS live in a bubble for life is hard. I get dealt with reality checks ever so often to hv little faith or whatever is left to cling on to get on with life.
I am a pessismistic one in actual fact, for my most famous motto at work is: Don't expect anyone to treat you good, if they do, its a bonus.
But I got to let my offspring know that there is hope in life, or else there are nothing much to live on.....

For myself, I always remind my kids dont let anybody to touch their body... even is their teacher / grandparent / uncle / auntie.. Must inform me if have such matter! Esp when my boy go public toilet by himself, always scare have \"tiko pek pek\" to touch him... 😛

There are too many incidents which little girl / boy molest by relatives/neighbour who you know ....

Of coz this is not a skill.. haha

Another 2 to add for myself:

(1) Be Honest - Better to be corrected now than to keep on spinning lies to cover the original lie. And it is ok to be wrong sometimes cos nobody is perfect.

(2) Fight Addiction (aka Mind Over Body) - Any addiction, over-eating, smoking, TV. Master your body and not the other way around.

Martial Arts. Beat those who oppose you into submission.
Fishing, hunting and survival skills. Be the last one standing when everyone else is dead.
Music and Art. Keeps you sane in an insane world.

Martial Arts - Does the kid's particulars hv to be submitted to Police? Cos during my times, those learning it must submit.
Fishing - I think my kids are more like BAITS to the fish
Hunting - Does chasing after cockroaches count? Take after Mummy hehehe
Music - Both r backseat singers but can tell Mummy that her singing can bring the \"house down\"
Art - Doddling counted?
