it is very tough to fill up those 6 choices. i remember the number of times we prioritized the different options for son, making sure he got into his first choice. he was very demoralized after his unexpected psle result then. when the sms came and revealed the result, we were elated. at least he got something of his choice.
so don't waste the first choice.

It's difficult to please everyone. Probably parents have complained before about the lack of choice and now there are parents like you who complain about too many choices.

No wonder MOE always have a headache.

I'm with you on this. Got into my 1st choice for sec school, JC and university course ๐Ÿ˜‰

Apart from sec school selection (because selection was prior to PSLE results), I did not utilize all my choices as I feel that they are redundant and a waste of pen ink :rotflmao:

That said, I can understand why people like to have more choices when there is less certainty in their choices.

Only case 1 is deserving case that needs attention. That other case should be throw out of the window, IMO.

Some parents are just screwing up the whole posting exercise. And worst if they actually took away a vacancy that would have been given to another student that really needed that place but had lesser score.
Case 3 does exist. Human beings are known to be fickle minded. Others may just want to be with friends, partners, pets, whatever because they ended up in a different school / different choice.

Case 2 also exist (very frequently in fact). Some people feel that they should have 7 or more choices despite 6 being the official number. These people usually want to reserve their 6 choices for schools with higher COP or the top-top schools. When they don't get in (plus the recent changes to appeal procedures), pick any school that they qualify to avoid a MOE-posted school (because MOE posted schools are usually not the highly desirable ones).

I do agree that some parents are just screwing up the whole posting exercise, but should that even come as a surprise? ๐Ÿ˜‰

None of us in KSP forum are involved in the important decision making of deciding which appealing candidate, to reject or to accept, in the 2 schools u mentioned.

The practical qn you can ask Principal from the 2 schools are :
A)
- how many appeal forms have been submitted so far to schools, since the closing date for appeal, from candidates scoring higher & above 245 cut off point -
because these are your competitors going by T-score merit in the appeal process, & since their score is way higher than 245, chances are they will be admitted first, compared to those who just touched COP boundary.

B)
- how many vacancies are left in the school, for appeal candidate(s) to take up ?

If is a single digit vacancy left, below 10, or below 5 ?

Or zero vacancy, until wait for someone to leave the school, transfer out to another one ?

C)
- latest by when, will u be notified of outcome of appeal ?

If u know the answer to first 2 qn, u should be able to gauge roughly the chances of your appeal, better than any of us here, in this forum.

Unfortunately none of us work for the school. It's hard to tell where your son stands in their list of appeal cases (given that the appeal cases are > 245). You can only hope for the best but prepare mentally for disappointment.
