I need some help.

First, I'd like to introduce myself so you guys can better judge if I have a good chance of being accepted into NTU or NUS. I've heard that both universities are incredibly hard to get accepted into, for an international student. I know it's long, but please bear with me till the end- it's very important for me.

I have just started studying as international student at MDIS(University of Bradford,UK, first year) in September, studying Mechanical Engineering. I have taken Edexcel GCE A level and received the following marks.
Mathematics : 555/600(Grade A)
Physics: 560/600 (Grade A*)
Chemistry: 552/600 (Grade A*)

I also have a report card with an overall percentage of 93% in 12th grade when I graduated. I have an IELTS score of 8.5, and have received a bronze medal in the International Junior Science Olympiad 2008(Busan, Korea). I have received distinctions in several International science and math competitions from Australia, and was ranked 8 in my country in a national Mathematics competition. In my GCE 'O' Level, I have received 5 A's and a B. I am from Myanmar and I wish to study Aerospace Engineering(or mechanical engineering with aerospace specialization for NUS, or just Mechanical Engineering as my second preference). I wish to transfer to either NUS or NTU after I finish my first year here, as I think that Bradford is not suitable for me. My family is not very financially privileged, so it is extremely important that I make the right choice. Please tell me about the chances I have of being accepted into NUS or NTU, and please advice me on which university to choose. Also, I wish to know if there is a chance of me receiving a scholarship of any kind. This is incredibly important to my life and my parents, so please try your best to educate me on this matter ASAP as NTU's and NUS's applications are open right now. I will apply to both universities. Thank you, and blessings.

Reply to All About Universities on Fri, 29 Mar 2024 07:09:09 GMT

National University of Singapore Walking Tour

https://www.eventbrite.sg/e/national-university-of-singapore-walking-tour-tickets-871828581757

RoastChickenDance

Reply to All About Universities on Fri, 23 Feb 2024 03:46:50 GMT

More detailed comparisons here (older data):

https://www.salary.sg/2023/graduate-employment-survey-2022-published-2023/

zac's mum

Reply to All About Universities on Fri, 23 Feb 2024 03:33:58 GMT

https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/fresh-university-grads-get-higher-salaries-though-fewer-find-full-or-part-time-work-survey

https://i.imgur.com/FcT3lZ1.jpeg\">
https://i.imgur.com/QqL59GO.jpeg\">

chenlaoshi

Reply to All About Universities on Sun, 07 Jan 2024 05:11:47 GMT

pirate\" post_id=\"2126530\" time=\"1704601866\" user_id=\"66252:

Why we care how some ang moh rank universities in Asia? This translates to a 42 per cent cohort participation rate, which has been reached in the last three years. Cohort participation rate refers to the percentage of a cohort given places in MOE-funded degree programmes.

But the demand for university places remains high with 38,000 school leavers applying for places in the local universities. This translates to about two applicants for every university place.

Based on 2022-23 intake of NTU, NUS and SMU, 15,775 places were taken up with the following breakdown:
NTU 6,151
NUS 7,052
SMU 2,572
(extracted from respective uni indicative grade profile tables) Hence, 42%.

So around 3,000 places are from the other 3 local uni. Only recently, with AI break through developments, we have robotic with “brains” that are good enough to replace alots more human jobs. Calling it robot may conjure up image of pre programmed highly repetitive low level decision making capability. Calling AI is more accurate, to me. AI Robot that can detect distress by looking at patients for example. Normal robot may only show images and a backend controller still have to assess what is shown by the robot.

Even research can be taken over by AI. An AI machine learn Go by itself from knowing just the rules of the game. It even surpassing limits caused by the typical human bias. Now the machine can beat the world Go champion many times over. The trend now is professional Go players are learning from AI, to overcome their own human bias/ pre conceived notions that may limit their performance.

Our pre conceived notions of education may have to change soon too

bbbay

Reply to All About Universities on Thu, 05 Oct 2023 04:42:06 GMT

bbbay\" post_id=\"2120081\" time=\"1696480397\" user_id=\"175278:

We can keep AI in mind. Coding used to be done in early days by our computer grads but hv been farmed to India at one time, so Sporean IT sector move on to do more analytical functions. Then, in the early 80s, there were cheaper options fr China & India relieving our IT consultants to leadership roles, managing teams of IT Analysts.

My aunts started as nursing aides but went over to UK to train & work as midwives.
