If you are a parent that is looking at the results, I obtained A* for English during PSLE (my only A* unfortunately) and would like to comment that my personal experience in British Council has been amazing. However, British Council is a school that motivates students to explore the fields of English. Therefore, like any other tuition centre, students need to be able to study English at their own pace and interest in order to see the full results.
I will be going back to British Council for my Secondary 4 year and I will update any aspiring parents on my experience there!

They claimed their materials are aligned to the MOE syllabus. However I didn't compare them hence can't comment on this part..

Checking out Sec one course at BC. Any comment for their Sec one course?
Is your son still with BC? Which branch? My nearest branch would be either Tampines or Toa Payoh.
BC has different courses for Sec one. How do one choose? Need your valuable advise.

i attended the sec 1 course at BC too at Napier Rd/Tanglin, but that was in the 80s. Rating was 9/10.

BC was then an enrichment language centre (similar to Alliance Franchise, Goethe Institute and Jap Cul centre before MOELC came about). Students needed to take placement test and 1-1 interview with the native assessor before enrolment. All native teachers with CELTA/TOEFL/IELTS/ESL teaching qualifications or years of UK teaching experience. Fantastic library (UK daily broadsheets) and audio resource centre (BBC video tapes) accessible to students. Imported EL textbooks and workbooks from Britain. Listening Compre, CW and Compre were pitched at a very high level (I attended the Intermediate one I think).

TLL EL lessons are taught by local teachers. But good for scoring in local exams.

Hello all. We are planning on sending our kids for Primary 1 English courses at the British Council. Does anyone know what fees they charge for these?

For weekdays class it's $2800 for a year (40 lessons) or $1400 (half a year)

For weekends I believe it's $3000 for a year or $1500 (1/2).

We just signed up the weekday class for my lil bro next year (p1) and had a $300 discount during their open house. Can check w them if it's still available.

My son is currently at Toa Payoh BR, N2 level.
He’s there for 5 lessons so far.
His teacher marks his worksheets & gives simple comments e.g. good job, well done, etc.
Anyway I’m transferring him to Tampines next yr for K2 as it’s nearer & the classrooms there are much spacious.
