      Jennifer/MrsKS,

I have always been thinking that my left hand is under utilised, but never thought of left fingers. Even typing on handphone, I almost dont use left thumb. I have average fingers, leaning towards small and slim side but still, I feel my fingers are too big to type on handphone. So never like typing too much on phones when on the go.

I envy those people who play violin and/or piano. In particular piano. They use their left fingers a lot.Tofu boy seems to have inherited my ambidexterity but like me, he has lost most of his ability to write on left hand.

MrsKS, in brief cos I am on the go. Happen to see your post cos click sala 😂

Tofu boy had enrichment eng and it had built a solid foundation. I strongly believe he had a good head start partly due to this eng class. The 2 years put together the pieces if puzzles he had collected over time. Without which, maybe still can be as strong as he is now, but the road is definitely less smooth.

If you dont want extra classes, then boh pian must roll up your sleeves to do it. Time is on your side now. Plan carefully.

    • RE: Mummy Imami's Idiosyncrasies

I was sitting in a building’s management office, waiting to meet my associate. In this office, the people work hard to take care of the buildings (cleaning, maintenance, engineering and security…) and helping the tenants/residents in anything you can reasonably expect. Suddenly, the silence was broken by a lady who was obviously put on speaker mode. Apparently, she called for assistance to locate her phone which had unfortunately slipped into the gap between the wall of the lift well and the lift floor. This lift serves floors all the way up to 35th level but I have no idea which level did the phone drop. While her voice sounded real upset and agitated, the lady receiving her call was a total boh chap.

After putting down the phone, this lady began blah blah blah about the other lady in the phone, despite promising to look into this and render assistance. The few co-workers sitting around her started giving their comments. One said the phone would probably be shattered (I think she meant the screen) into pieces, why bother to retrieve. The other said where got so easy to send someone down. Another said need money de, would she be willing to pay.

All were not wrong. I would imagine that we need qualified people to go down the lift well if need be and that would cost money since they probably need the lift contractor’s help. The phone probably couldn’t have survived the fall.

In no more than 10 minutes, the same lady called again seeking a resolution. This was met with some very negative reactions, albeit after the phone was put down. I believed they must have forgotten I was still sitting at the reception area.

It suddenly came to my mind about rescue operation. During a rescue operation, one would anxiously seek updates and adopts a “if alive, I want to see person. If dead, I want to see corpse” attitude.

I used to get "very ashamed" about the "misfortune" I have suffered. Small things. eg falling down. Thankfully, these are far and few in between. I like to think that it is because of I try to practice "paying forward" and being reasonably kind. There is this "reasonableness" attached to kindness for me, because I think there are still people who would take advantage of another person’s kindness for whatever reason.

Recently I was suffering from eczema. My first time, despite my skin being sensitive all the while. When it hit me, I thought it was hives. Took me a week to realise it is not hives. My heart sank when I realised I could be hit with eczema. The few of my friends suffered much and are at the mercy of dermatitis. It brings along with it not just itch, but also lifestyle restriction. One friend who swam daily could no longer go swimming, without risking the condition flaring up. The other who did sports weekly had to put his rackets and jogging shoes away because sweat aggravated the condition.

Not knowing what to do, I went to my usual GP. Lucky for me, he had an interest in dermatology and had some in-house medication. His knowledge in this field also help to educate me on my condition. My skin did improve but not as fast as I had hoped for. So happened that I got to know a moisturizer especially concocted for this unbearable itch. This moisturizer, together with the medication, helped my recovery. It took one month. This moisturizer was a newly launched product. I like to believe that I must have done enough good to get this just in time. Either this or there must be a greater mission for me to undertake.

It is also during this period of suffering that I realise why my mom keeps saying her feet itches. I bought a tube of that moisturizer, rather than getting her to see my GP. I seriously agree with the doctor who came up with this moisturizer, that stopping the itch is the key.

It was also through this moment, that I suddenly had this realisation that some times we suffer not for retribution. There could be a greater good ahead that we had to realise through our suffering. I have learnt much from this episode - knowing more about dermatitis, helping my mom with her itch and not to take my skin for granted.

      Hi

Newly joined this club too. 😄
my son in p3 (jan 08).

Can I ask if any of ur P3 kiddos having Science PRACTICAL test in Term 3 (July)? Any idea what do they do/test at all? First time am hearing \"practical\" test for P3.
      Oh we have!

It constitutes 10% of the overall score and represents the CA2. That is, no other test, just this practical. The children are to conduct two simple experiments and record their observation and choose the material most suitable for the desired purpose.

According to my child, it was not difficult. He added that the teacher had gone through similar practices in lessons and most of them would have gotten full marks in the actual test, since half of them actually had full marks during mock tests and the teacher did go through the common mistakes. Had the students listened and absorbed the important points during these walk throughs, they would have aced the test.

The test result has not been released yet though..

    • RE: Mummy Imami's Idiosyncrasies

Some of us do not believe in afterlife, ghosts or the supernaturals but I thought this is worth sharing.

A colleague of mine recently shared her strange encounter. Her uncle and aunt passed away for years. As the extended family was very tight knitted, my colleague treated them like her own parents. Every anniversary or festivals, she would serve the uncle and aunt whatever that she had served to her parents at the columbarium. This Qing Ming, my colleague decided to burn handphones and tablets to them and she did.

Some time later, her brother called her. He said he dreamed of their parents and they said they could now inform them about their needs?! The siblings were left wondering if it was because of the phones??

Around the same time, the daughter of the uncle and aunt called. This daughter, because she lived overseas, did not know about the Qing Ming incident. The cousin told my colleague that she had a strange dream, citing her father said the phone couldn’t "call out" and the old man was very upset about it. It was then that my colleague remembered how one of the phones had a dent. Dismissing it as something negligible, she burned the "dented phone" anyway. Due to this account, she burned another one soon to appeased the uncle. No more calls from cousin there after.

      邪门… Don’t believe also cannot.

      MrsKiasu:
leeyl, sounds so cheem 😓 still :thankyou:

where got cheem? It just mean having multiple books, with similar/same topics, you get your child to do the same topic in each book. One book one topic at a time. Once done, move on to the next.

This is also the method I have adopted if we do \"teach ahead\" with tofu boy.

Was at MBS toastbox. Just ordered my drink and was about to sit down at this nice corner to digest some materials. I was thinking life is good today!

Then I received news that someone I know had suffered a heart attack while driving. Rammed into a pillar. Sent to hospital already.

No mood to enjoy the afternoon liao.
