      Hi ,

      I am newly joint .
I would like to ask Early Intervention Centre Ichiban Nurtureland ?
Someone know about this school? I stay in Jurong East and currently cannot find the near my place and all are waitting list too long.
Currently we do CDU by Jurong Medical and OT and ST also

I have 4 year old boy (2012 Oct born) and currently one private school and one PCF withdraw from school. (CC accepted by 3 months each šŸ˜„ )
      What is the problem :
He not sitting in class room and run around
He not listen to teacher teaching
      No social with other kids
      Not successful toilet training too

So school difficult to control him and do not want to accept him.

Advance thank you and hope someone sugguestion to me soon.
(My english is not too good and understand to me)
He's only 4 years old and the schools expect him to be toilet trained? Childcare is more receptive to this. Ok, all kids walk around when they are this age. So don't let the teachers convince you that it's a problem. You will just have to find a nurturing childcare that will be loving towards him. A loving environment goes a long way to helping him.

I also had to withdraw my boy when he was 4 years old from a kindergarten due to similar reasons like yours. They wanted to demote him to pre-nursery. Thankfully, I managed to find a nurturing childcare. When I asked if not being toilet trained is a problem, they said no, just leave it to them. They toilet trained him!

He still walks around at p5 (according to his classmate) but it hasn't caused much distress to the classmates or the teachers.

Hope you manage to find a nurturing school with loving teachers.

      Hi,

The last week of term 1 already. Friday will be the first PTM. Overall, my boy adapt quite fast. He even got a gift from his teacher as he got most points in the past two month. Teacher use class dojo as rewards system. But there are some issues make me uncomfortable, want to ask some suggestions from expericed parents here. In my boy's team, got one boy, teacher said he not easy to get along. So his seats changed 3 or 4 times already. He sat beside my boy about 2 or 3 weeks, there are somethings happened. He barrowed pen from my one, my one don't want. Then he tried to grab, my one hold it, then the color pencil box broken. Another time is space issue, he said let my boy give some space to him, my one not move, then he pulled the chair. Then teacher swop the seat for my son and another girl. Now there are two girls between two of them. Last Thursday, they were doing some activities, draw your friend. My boy draw him, he walked to my boy's seat, said he don't like the way my boy draw then erase the picture. Most of the cases teachers saw it and stop him. I asked my boy, why you not tell teacher, he said teacher can saw and can't shout in classroom. I am wondering is that the boy target him as he is a quiet one? What I supposed to do? I know is not big issues, but happen quite often make me worried. Any experienced parent can advise?

Ask teacher to change team. The class has 30 kids. Why must she make him sit with that boy? Since that boy isn't easy to get along with, send him to sit with those that he can get along with.

      SLXSYXSLQ:
Hi, anyone can give me advice as my child needs to be enrolled this year as she is Primary 1 next year, but I am now staying in Serangoon North and shifting to AMK only in early 2018 (as the building is not ready yet and I have yet to collect the keys) which is located directly behind JingShan Primary School.

How high is the possibility of enrolling to JingShan Primary School and securing a position for my child? Any advices or guides? :?: :?:

Should be fine. It hasn't had any balloting for 2C for a long time.

      Hi there,

My girl is born in 2011, She's in K1 this year. I hope you dont think i'm super kiasu. I just wanted to find out more info from the experienced parents here.

I was hoping to enroll my girl in IJ TP or St Nicks. We qualify under Phase 2b but we are just outside of the 2km bracket :gloomy:
I was from IJ but not TP or St Nicks.
Do you think the chances of her getting in is ok?

No chance at all for St Nicks. Toa Payoh has balloting outside 2km, u get a small chance. If you don't mind risking it. You may want to try CHIJ OLGC which is in serangoon gardens. Shouldn't be too far from your place. You will be able to get in at 2B easily.

      Hi,

May I check whether there is any open house for Anderson Primary School this year? If yes, any idea of the date? Thank you!

Anderson has never held any open houses before maybe because it's always oversubscribed.
That's not to say it won't happen in future. Please check with the school admin on this.

What sports or CCA is Anderson Primary good in that would give higher chance to qualify for DSA? When does CCA start ? In primary 3? Can I request my kids to join CCA in P1?

They used to be good in Volleyball and Basketball. Now not so much. They used to have sports classes but they removed it after changing the principal.

    • RE: All About Delayed Speech

      princesses2:
      Lindylanolin:

My Daughter been diagnosed as Delay in Speech and language by KK. She was recommended to go for EIPIC. I went to KidsCove to take a look. But their programme seems more to be learning how to be functional and not much emphasis on speech. Any parents facing same diagnosis and did EIPIC really help? EIPIC seems to be for more serious case. I am so stressed. Also thinking whether to go kindy or full time childcare. šŸ˜ž

My son has speech delay & suspected ASD as he doesn't have much eye contact previously but he's ok now. He is being referred to EIPIC for speech delay also but we have yet to start. We went for the EIPIC assessment just last week & was told that they can't confirm when he could start the program. As I was told by the psychologist that the waiting time is long for EIPIC, I send him to private EIP 3 times a week. Their programme is more like KidsCove, more on functional but we still see improvement. He's able to response by nodding or shaking his head when being asked qns & gradually he's able to say please/give when he wants something. We spent a lot of time with him at home teaching him words thru playing.

If your girl is just speech delay perhaps it would be better to send her to speech therapy if fanancially you can afford & send her to a kindy rather than childcare so you have more time to work on her speech at home. I have to warn you tho that is not easy to find a school that could accept our kids. I have been told by the psychologist, therapist & even EIPIC center to send my boy to school so he could interact with his peers but am having a hard time looking for a kindy or childcare with half a day programme. Some told me frankly that they are unable to cope with special needs kid. We intend to send him to enrichment classes instead just to expose him to his peers.

More interactions will help her. Encourage her to speak thru daily routines like ask if she wants milk & teach her to nod or shake her head if she doesn't want to say yes/no. The speech will come eventually. Good luck!

      Hi Princess2

Try enrolling in not for profit childcare or kindy. They are usually more accepting towards special needs children. School is very important for asd kids. It helps them practise their social skills.

      Lindylanolin

Just go for pure speech therapy if it's just speech delay. If you find private rates unaffordable, try going to kkh rehab. They also have speech therapists there and you can work on it there instead of going Eipic. Kkh cdc likes to refer the kids to outside org to help the kids. According to the doctor, only the experienced ones go private and therefore private therapies are better. Dunno what kind of logic coz the kkh rehab speech therapists are also very experienced. They have helped my son who couldn't articulate properly, speak like any kid now.
