    • RE: Q&A - PSLE Math

      taringal:
      Hi,

      Can someone help on the following questions with clear explanation? Thank you.

      Q1) May, Susan, Ben and Joey, each have some stickers. May has 50% as many stickers as the total number of stickers that Susan, Ben and Joey have. The number of stickers that Susan has is 25% of the total number of stickers that May, Ben and Joey has. The number of stickers that Ben has is 2/3 of the total number of stickers that May, Susan and Joey has. If May gives 20 stickers to Susan, May and Susan will then have an equal number of stickers. Find the average number of stickers each of them has.

      Q2) In a donation drive, Ali, Hendri, Danny and Kaviin collected an average of $128. Ali collection 1/7 of the total amount collected by Hendri, Danny and Kaviin. Hendri collected 2/5 of the total amount collected by Danny and Kaviin. Danny collected 1/3 as much donations as Kaviin. How much donations did Ali collect?

      Q3) A wallet contained some 2-dollar and 5-dollar notes in the ratio of 8:3. When 15 2-dollar notes were taken out and replaced with some 5-dollar notes, there was 16% less 5-dollar notes than 2-dollar notes. The total value of all the notes remained the same. What is the total value of all the notes in the wallet?
      For Q3, when it said replaced, did it mean 15 notes, or the worth of 15 $2 notes? or just a random number of $5?
      I assumed that it meant 15 notes...
      2x8u=16u
      5x3u=15u
      2x15=30
      5x15=75
      8u-15=100x
      3u+15=84x
      31u=?
      8400x=672u-1260=300u+1500
      372u=1500+1260=2760
      then it is no longer divisible, cld someone take a look and help(I'm known for being Ms Careless)

    • RE: All About Working With Children Who Are Weak Academically

      About study groups in page 1...

      My Primary School didn't allow us to bring phones at all(had to have valid reason). So our eagerness to run home after school was much less(weird concept, but ya that's the case). Our Teacher formed study groups for us, so basically, we would go to a room(with AC, that's why we loved it 😂 ) and there would be a teacher supervising us, and we cld also ask questions. I loved going to these because I would get my homework done in 1.5 hours instead of the 5hs if I did at home :rotflmao: .

      FYI, most schools have 2 open houses, one in May, the other ia around Nov. Earlier is to attract DSA students, the later one is for PSLE students.

      Last year RGS only have 1 open house in May. There was no open house after release of PSLE results.

      Yep, similar to many schools. What I was trying to say that if the school, like most schools, have 2 open houses, they are for diff purposes so attending the 'right' one will be btr(or at least don't miss the right one just because you have gone)

      iceicebaby,

      I should thank you for starting this thread. It didn't occur to me to speak to my husband about what had happened to my kid but I was thinking aloud to my husband what young girls should do in similar situations and he was shocked that I had not discussed the matter with him.

      From a man's perspective, he advised my kid to 'scream first, think later' if she felt touched, even if she's not sure if it was an accident. Not sure if it's true but he said bus drivers and mrt staff would have been trained to follow certain protocols when such incidents happen. According to him, they are to lock the bus or train to prevent the sex maniac from running away and drive or take them to the police station. I questioned about the inconvenience it would cause to other commuters. He said these perverts know exactly what the victims are worried about, that they would inconvenient others, that others may not believe them, that they may have mistaken an accidental touch for molestation etc and that's why they pick crowded vehicles to commit the disgusting crimes.

      He said whether it's an accidental touch or molestation, it's up to the police to judge and it's important that the victims build up a case against them, so that if there are future victims who report against them, the police can have ample reasons to arrest them. But too many victims have let these perverts go bcos of various fears.

      Sometimes the situation may be so crowded that you can't move an inch actually. I was once in such a situation and a perverted hand was firmly stuck on my butt but it was so crowded I couldn't even turn around. You can only move back and step on the pervert if there's some space.
      well, lift up ur leg, look at the pervert's leg and step firmly onto it, shld not take up additional space. Anyways, I recall a friend telling me that when she was holding the pole or something, some guy came up to him and wanted to hold her hand on the pole, she was alert and quickly moved to another area, and she ran off the bus just as it approached( She paid of course). I am wondering if this can be considered public harassment. I mean, the hand isn't a like 'sensitive' area but ... hand is still... and no the bus wasn't pack.

    • RE: Which Powerbank to buy?

      BeContented:
      ChiefKiasu:

      Yes, I second the Xiaomi powerbanks. Charges really fast, and also very fast to recharge. What's even better... you can actually charge the powerbank while it charges your devices. That's something that most other powerbanks don't do. A single 10,000maH battery can recharge my Note 5 about twice from about 20% full.

      Agree it charges real fast, but something weird happened to my iphone 6+ when I started using it.
      Was away on holiday so used the powerbank. The phone started hanging & would suddenly power off by itself at about 20% battery life while I was taking pics. Despite using a fully charged powerbank, the phone couldn't start at all for the next 30-60mins. So throughout the trip, I faced that problem whenever I use the powerbank.

      Stopped using it & I have not hit those issues.

      Well, my sis's phone powered off when we were overseas I think because it was too cold.

    • RE: How can a child gain weight? What do you feed your child?

      a few things to note:

      1. If you are significantly taller than others of your age group, it probably eat too must of the things they put in chicken to make it grow faster so… It’s bad and may even shorten your life.
      2. Milk doesn’t help with calcium, it in fact removes calcium from your bones, you can check up on it.

      Anyone have kids in band? Mine is now attending 4 times a week. It seems a bit too much. I was wondering if this is a norm or just starting this year?

      My DD has just finished 4 years in MSHS and just got his O Level results.

      He was in the band.

      During his time, band was only only Wed and Sat at the beginning.

      It only get intensive when they are competing in the competition by which time, usually there is a camp meaning the camp in school for concentration and comradeship.

      Band is very good becos MSHS Band is a top band, most of the time will win competition, also sure get -2 points for O levels.

      Hope that helps ...

      Not sure. Win is one thing, to get bonus point no need win actually. There's many other things to fufill to get bonus points now.

      Not only dd need to learn. I also need to learn. I heard of Band A but in my mind I really don't know from what marks lor..and paiseh to ask also. From P1 to P6, the band A will be of the same range? And since 70-75 will be A, the band A will be from 70 onward?

      No need to be paiseh. My 2nd psle and I still don't know what are the range for band 1 or is it band A. Never figure out how to estimate t score either. Not like whether I know or don't know will have any impact on the grades 😉

      To calculate T score, just take total score x 0.75. Might not be accurate though. Some say x0.7 more accurate, but for my case, 0.75 was much more accurate than 0.7. If u have the level's statistics, can use:http://www.post1.net/biow/entry/psle_aggregate_calculator_and_psle_t_score_calculator_online
