      Hi,

My girl is currently schooling at RGS. She is keen to take up ‘A’ level Chinese but we understand that this is not available at RIJC.

      Any one can advise? Thanks.

My dd is also in RGS sec 1 doing HCL, she has a keen interest in the laguage and wishes to continue in RIJC. But same as ezmum's gal, seems unable to do so, starting to feel that should have let her go to NYGH instead. Can anyone gives us some info?

            Hi NatTifMummy, ezmum

I remember a talk was conducted by MT dept at the beginning of the year for Year 3 students and parents, to inform them of the plan for MT/HMT in RGS, as well as in RI-JC. The Chinese language curriculum in RI-JC is rather comprehensive too, it should be comparable to those offered by HCI or DHS. Don’t forget, there are many Chinese scholars in RP!

            Chinese modules in RI-JC include:
H1 Chinese (more for students who do not take HMT in RGS, or those who did HMT but didn’t score A1 and aim to achieve a perfect score for ‘A’ levels)
            H1 General Paper
            H2 Chinese & Literature
            H3 Chinese & Literature

There are also some bicultural programme and Chinese studies similar to those offered in SAP schools, but the difference is, RI-JC does not get funds from MOE in running these programmes.

            Hope the information helps.

                Hi All

How difficult is it to get into RJC via DSA? Any thoughts are most appreciated.

Does anyone know if they have shortlisted students for the interview yet?

                Thanks so much!!

How many students get into RI at JC level each year, who are not already in the IP at RI or RGS? In other words, what are the chances for ‘outsiders’ to get into RJC?

RGS takes in 450 at Sec 1, so does RI, that makes 900 going to JC1, assuming no drop out. The number of graduates from JC 2 is about 1200

Hence the net addition is 300, but the actual could be lesser as some are scholars from Malaysia or China etc who are admitted between S1 to S4 outside the 900

Thanks for that info. Now, must encourage my dd to work hard for her O levels. She’s already quite stressed out, 'cos her aim is to get into RJC.

Verykiasu2010, your figures are indeed accurate.

                        gladtobemum

To get into RI, your dd needs to score perfect 6 pts, including english and a humanities subject at A1. She needs to pass HMT and does well in her cca ie A1/A2. Cath high and ST Nicks provide alot of students each year.

Her nett score should be 6-2-2=2.
