stop letting the kids play with iPads all day long, invest some time in doing outdoor activities running or soccer that will let the eyes rest and focus long distance…and load up on vitamin A carrots milk vitamin D for good absorption as well as fish oil! to improve good eyesight. billberry pills are a good investment as well 😃

Just joined this forum. My husband asked me to send my kids (6 yr old girl and 4 year old boy) to see a eye specialist to get their eyes examined. Was recommended to see this Specialist at this new clinic at Suntec City. Thankfully, the Dr was very patient with my kids, and took his time to explain to me all I had to know about the condition of my children’s eyesight (unfortunately they inherited their father’s poor eyesight). The great thing is that they are part of a Optical centre and I had my kids glasses made there and the kids are occupied as there is a nice kids area for them to play. I am thankful that my husband forced me to send my kids to the Dr as the problem in my daughters eyes were found out before she turns 7 next year (apparently it is not easy to correct eyesight problems after 7). I do strongly suggest parents to bring their young ones to see a eye specialist young as I thought my kids did not have any problems with their eyesight.

          Hi,

My 5 yr old boy has recently started to blink all the time. When asked, he says there is no discomfort but he just can’t help it. Not sure if it is a issue to raise concern or it is a newly developed bad habit?
          Any parents experienced that too?

my 11yr old did it on and off. his first episode was in Primary 2. then last year, then this year on and off. haiz. i think he usually did it when he stares at handheld gadgets or computer for too long and his eyes dry. my husband will video his actions and let him see as son didn't know that he actually blinked too much.
recently, my 7yr old also has this strange action of widening his eye. after repeated nagging, i dont see it nowadays. think it is due to prolong reading.
            both wear specs..sigh.....

Ask him to take sufficient eye break and monitor closely.

I am taking my daughter to SNEC for eye-check up tomorrow.

This year, she again received the letter from school saying her eye-sight needs to be checked after the annual health check-up.

Last year when I went to SNEC, after testing they said she doesn’t need spectacles.
This year bit worried now, she has more homework and less time to relax/play.

Hope no specs, and keeping my fingers crossed…

Ayah, being parent we only seem to worry a lot. These young kids don’t listen to our advises to keep proper distance while reading or writing… eat healthy food with veggies etc.

Once kids' eyes start blinking, almost sure sign of eye problem. Either dry, blur, or tired. Time to rest. Force child some more cos homework not completed yet, next thing you know :moneyflies: :moneyflies: :moneyflies: - gotta make specs for them. :faint:
