      Wish2013:
      hi..

I'm new here & would like to know more about naval base ps.
Understood that this is single session school (correct me if I'm wrong), does the school have any after school care service?

      cheers
I went to its open house last year. It is a single session school. There is a after school care service located within the school premises.

Hope this helps. You can also call up the school and make enquires.

I noticed that places taken up from Phase 1 to Phase 2C is 88 and there are 122 vacancies left over for Phase 2Cs. Only 18 registered during Phase 2Cs. These 18 who registered could have been aiming for Chongfu or Northland Primary and were balloted out during Phase 2C. That means 104 vacancies not filled up in Naval Base Pri. Seriously, MOE should do something and think why a school can has 100+ vacancies not filled up and do something to help increase the profile of the school.

She is one of the worst and sickening principals you will see in any pri schools in SG. I remembered how she \"told me off\" when I attended my DD's prefect investiture ceremony few years back. I had a few month's old child to look after at that time but I went ahead to attend the ceremony as I wanted to give my DD my support even though she said its OK if I did not attend as she knows I was busy baby sitting her sister. Not my first time attending as this is an yearly affair. However, that year was the only year I stayed for the refreshments as I was thinking of taking the opportunity to speak to the teachers and the principal herself as it was an important PSLE Year. With a baby stroller and my child in my arm, I told myself that I would wait for all other parents to finish picking up the snack's provided before I myself go have a bite and mingle with the teachers. That must be 10-15 mins later so I was the only one at the snacks table. The principal had already starting eating and chatting with another staff without wanting to make eye contact with the parents(Previous year she chatted with us parents and I realised that maybe because previous year, the refreshments was served in an open area instead of behind closed doors in the library, so she had no choice but to chat with the parents instead of eating straight away as there were staff and students walking around in the open area) Anyway, back to topic...there were hardly any parents probably 4 to 5 including myself. At that point in time, my girl had managed to join me in the library as I told her I would be staying around for a while. I was picking up my food item when my DD told me \"mummy can I have one mini curry puff I am hungry\" and I said : \" You can have Mummy`s share\". At that very moment, the principal walked to me and said in a rude manner :\"WE HAVE 1500 STUDENTS,THIS IS CATERED FOR PARENTS ONLY!\"

So I told my girl I would get her some food after leaving the school. The more I think of it, the more I felt pissed. How can I be eating the snacks and let my child just watch when she already told me she was hungry?? So I stood up and walked back to the refreshments table trying to put the miserable curry puff, 1 pc of kueh and maybe a mini samosa back and said in a fit of anger, I said :\"Don't mind but I will put the food back. They are still clean and you can keep the whole table of food to your staff and FYI that secondary student with the mother are eating together..\" We hurriedly headed towards the door after that, although she pretended to be nice and asked whether I was angry, I replied her \"kind of\" and left. As a principal, she would have used a more appropriate way to handle the situation but she asked me to show her where the boy who ate the food was!!!! OMG, is she an educator or interrogation officer??? Go round stopping hungry kids from eating when she herself was busy eating and avoiding eye contact!!! Oh ya, Mrs SS, by the way that was supposed to be my 1st helping just in case you were thinking that, that was my 2nd serving just because I helped myself to the food at a later timing. You are already half way into savouring the food as a principal when the food was meant for parents...I thought??

The principal also lacked responsibility or tried to abuse her authority by asking the HOD, Mrs KCS to call me the very next day(After asking one of the prefects to go round checking whose mother came with a stroller the day before and finally \"tracked\" my girl! -Kudos to her for her efforts when such efforts can be used to shower more love and care for her students instead) Mrs KCS called to kinda apologise but as I was putting my baby to sleep and not in the most convenient time to talk, I responded with an apology!!! Why did I even do that when I was the \"victim\" of this tyrant educator's incompetence. What was worst was I told Mrs KCS that I stayed because it was lunch time!!! What I meant was it was lunch time therefore the teachers should be free to hang around to chat with parents! I WAS NOT THERE FOR FOOD!! I am not hard up for the snacks, mind you!

1500 students??? Yes right, but are all the 1500 students prefects?? Sad to say, most of the invited prefects' parents did not turn up for the short ceremony not to mention the miserable few parents who stayed for the refreshments. Really, she should just have placed the refreshments right in the staff office. Probably using school money to treat her staff and most importantly herself to the food. She would have estimated the amount of food according to the consent forms returned by the students..

During one of the school major events, something like school anniversary or that kind, the east zone Superintendent, if I remember correctly as Mrs Wendy was invited, the way this Mrs SS principal behaved in front of her superior deserves a tight slap or rather an award for being so good in pretending and hypocritical...

My DD was chosen by the teachers to be one of the nominees for the School head prefect. I told my girl to make do without the presentation since the final decision lies with the principal and she won't stand a chance after the \"drama\". She said it is a must so we prepared a slide with a short presentation and one of the male teachers in charged of the nominaton campaign promised my girl to change the photo that was given wrongly. Days after days, nothing was done and we came to realise that it was just pure empty promise by this Mr A, the Chinese teacher. As expected, the head prefect was the favourite of Mrs SS. Frankly, he deserved it as he was the top student for the PSLE that year, while my girl under such biased environment, managed to come in top 5 for her PSLE. I was thrilled! Sadly, we missed out on the report book collection timing as well as the top ten name list along with the principal's speech as the news presenter announced that results collection starts at 12nn when it actually started at 11am. Should have checked with a more reliable source 😓 Anyway, my DD's best friend called to tell her her PSLE aggregate 15 mins before we reached school.

Oh ya, the principal seemed to be a person to bear grudges or maybe she is just a racist. I remember for the P6 graduation, best dressed award, my DD and another eurasian girl (or mixed blood) were the 2 finalists. Most of her peers and a couple of teachers were confident that my DD had the best dress from head to toe and in accordance to that year's theme. In my heart I knew she would not get the award although her dressing is clearly the winner as yet again, the final decision lied with Mrs SS, not by voting. Luckily my girl was cool about the whole thing and said she dressed for the occasion not for the award.

Last but not least, one thing I regretted not doing when my girl was in P4 when the Chinese HOD approved some answers incorrectly but insisted that the model answer was right just because all papers had been signed and collected and the dept was probably just too lazy to change it or simply was in denial. When I went through the papers, I realised the papers had been marked wrongly so I went asking a chinese tutor whom I know as well as a couple of friends from China about the sentences re-arrangement. I asked them to arrange the answers and covered my girl's answer and it turned out they gave the same answers as my girl!! We understand that two continuous sentences should not have the word ”也” repeated in it. I can't remember the sentences since it was years ago but should be something to do with 叔叔也很爱吃鸡饭,他也很爱。。。when the sentence that my girl and my chinese friends used in between these two sentences sounded more flowing and appropriate. I brushed it off as I thought it would not affect too much on the overall results just because of the 2 to 3 marks loss. I was wrong!!! Her final overall percentage turned out to be 84.75% when it could possibly have been 85%! Until now, I am not sure how many students gave the same answer as my girl did and was denied the chance to prove the answer was right. Anyway after this yet another incompetence coming from them, you will be shocked to know that my girl came home one day with one of the questions in the English worksheet, (also can't remember clearly but should be something like) : \"Have you ______your water\"? The mother asked.

                        1)drink 2)drank
                        3)drunk 4)drinking

The English teacher gave 2) as the correct answer and I was like what?!

I called MOE general line to ask them for the answer although I was pretty sure the answer was 3), I got a reply quickly and the answer came back as \"drunk\". I can't remember whether I asked my girl to highlight to her teacher but I am glad that I did not put my younger child there this year. We have moved out of Bedok anyway. The only teachers she misses much till now are Mrs MG and Miss N.

This principal is now in a primary school and her message reads : \"It takes a village to raise a child\" and the school's philosophy \"Every child matters\" and the few other touching lines like \"we place an emphasis on care and ensuring that our classrooms are warm, inviting and conducive for learning; our programmes are inclusive and that needs of all our students are looked into. Our students are the centre of all that we do....\" What an irony, haha!

Talk is cheap ~ Deny a child of a mini curry puff and still has the cheeks to talk abt EVERY CHILD MATTERS???. What personality she posseses to deserve being a principal, but luckily only as a primary school principal.
