        Thanks verykiasu.

For Maths for example, did they basically finished the textbooks/ workbooks? Addition and subtraction up to two digits, with renaming (\"bringing over\")?

For English, are they writing in sentences? In prose? Given pictures? Any required target number of sentences?

        Thank you.
For Maths, my boy has completed the whole textbook- addition and subtraction up to two digits, multiplication and division and counting money.

For English, they are definitely writing sentences and constructing story using the 5 'Ws' and 1'H'. Picture reading is also assessed. They also learnt simple past tense.

I find P1 teachers in RVPS are given much free vein in pacing out the learning, depending on the students' development.

Thanks much Bridgette! This gives me some ideas on pegging my child's learning.

            For p1 English composition :-
How many words are pupils supposed to write ?
Is it around 80 minimum, in paragraph format ?

they supposed to do journal (up to the kids how long they wish to write) and recently they have a test on continuous writing so I suppose they have to write a story. They don’t really teach in paragraphs yet.

Basically I find this term, not much time on teaching already, all are assessments on all subjects and then alot of holidays in between.
Maths completed all already even multipication

                    Hi

My boy is in P1 this year, he enjoys going to school
RVPS system is very good for Pri 1 as the afternoon session only the P1s
the kids are very well taken care of
so far the form teachers for P1 are mostly very caring

The homework are manageable unless in Higher Chinese there are more writing to practise

There are quite a few assessment per term for P1 even though no tests :please:

Are graded assessments considered tests? P1 has graded assessments.

I believe the reasons for the assessments is to provide a feedback loop to the teachers and parents on how well or not the child has learnt the topics covered. The main aim is essentially to inform teaching and instructions. So "graded assessments" and "tests" may look like the same thing but the former may be an attempt to emphasise the need to view the assessments for its intended purpose. Not so much to assign a score to a child, as associated with "tests" over the years. Not sure if I’m right here and how things actually pan out on the ground from the child’s or parent’s perspective.

                        Hi,

I am considering if I should enrol my gal in RVPS. May I have some feedback from parents here on the school teaching methods, character development, stress level... 🙂
We are staying at Jalan Membina (Bt merah area), does anyone know how long does the journey take on the school bus? Will we be the first to board and last to be back?

                        Thanks so much!
