May I ask if the color of the pe t shirt is based on house color? So we will only know her house during orientation? Pe t shirts are purchased from bookstore while uniform from bibi baba?

      Thanks!

May I also ask what will normally happen during the orientation?

And how does the signing up of Cca happen? My child is keen on Swim, gymnastic and art club. But all the Cca fall on same day. Thus I wonder if the teachers will make the selection.

Signing up of P1 CCa is done only towards end of P1 Term 1, not on Orientation day.

The school need to ensure that all P1 students have already settled down in their daily routine school life first, before start to introduce any CCa.

P1 and P2 : CCa optional, not compulsory.

Do not take up too many CCa (example : all the 3 that you mention).
ensure that your P1 child is able to cope with academic studies first, before start to load her with CCa, which is optional in P1.
One CCa is manageable, but not 3 Cca, so many in P1.

If your dd take too many CCa, but unable to cope with studies, the school will advise parents to let their child drop some.
          Time management is important.
You need to balance time well, both (studies + Cca).

There are a number of P1 parents this year -
that never send their daughter for any single CCa, because not compulsory.
Some prefer to let their dd settle down one year first, come P2 next year 2015, then see how.
There are many parents wait until P2 or P3, then start one Cca.

Next year, after school give out CCA list to P1 parents -
Some fall on Tuesday, some fall on Thursday.

If 3 of your child's interests (swimming, art, rhythmic gymnastics) happen to clash on both Tues and Thurs, then choose one from each day.
Means you do maximum two CCa, in our school.
But from experience, for those P1 students who signed up, many only take one Cca, or zero.
Very few P1s take two Cca, per week.

The third one : can proceed to continue learning, outside.
          Eg : Swimming
A lot of our pupils learn Art or swimming on their own, outside.

Perhaps the one that you should sign up your dd for, is RG.
Because if learn outside privately, RG training fees is expensive.
But if learn within school compound, is much cheaper.

Ya most cca does seem to fall on Thursday. I guess it's also to deter parents from joining too many cca

For P1 : only Chinese cultural dance and Recreational Rhythmic gymnastics, fall on Tuesday.

              The rest fall on Thursday.

              FYI
              For Sports CCa -
Many parents here start grooming their children, since K1 / K2, like badminton, Table tennis, Rhythmic gymnastics, swimming.
They dont wait for P1, then start to train.
Some continue to learn it outside.

P1 : not many parents sign up their dd for CCa.
Usually, they prefer to let dd settle down one year first.
Another reason is many parents face logistic issue.
Nobody to bring their daughter down, for 10 am Cca, So did not sign up.
(Because no school bus to bring kids down to school, for Cc)

              But from P2 onwards -
a lot started to sign up.
Maybe they feel that if they don't sign up in P2, wait go to P3 no space to join that particular Cca, So is better to sign up in P2.

Because chances are if child enrol in a Cca in P2 -
when later go up to P3 : she can still continue with that same CCa if she still like it, unless she decide to withdraw from that Cca (for some reason or other), try something else instead.
Another reason : some Cca are popular.

There are some P1s when move up to P2 : decide to change to some other Cca. Maybe because they prefer to diversify their interests.

Sometime in November, 2015 P1 parents will receive formal letter from school, informing them which P1 class (1A to 1I), their dd has been assigned to.

Tagged to their class, will be the house color (red, green, blue, yellow).
With this info, then can go down Bibi Baba Orchard road, to buy PE T shirt, stripes on the sleeve got house color.

Both school uniform and PE T short -
                  Buy from Bibi baba.

Our school bookshop do not sell them.

Withdrawal from the previous phase last minutes, can this be done by grandparents? Or it had to be either parent?

Any idea how long the withdrawal will take? The school which we have a confirmed place is in the east…so aft withdrawal we then need to go rgps…yet dare not do it too early in case the number at rgps shoot up last min… Also how can we know the no of vacancies at rgps on that day itself? Do they openly write it down for us to see say on some whiteboard or do we need to call the office ?
