Singapore Chinese Girls School (Secondary)

Hi Luanee,
Thanks for the information. -
Snoopy5:
Just wonder whether the girl needs to pin up their school badge on the first day as there will be a initiation ceremony on the 3rd day of orientation.
Hi snoopy.. the school badge for initiation ceremony is a customised one for every individual cohort. So your DD will be receiving the 2015 one.
Can the girls wear track shoe (with some colour at the side) or it need to be pure white shoe?
As far as I know.. no coloured track shoes.. the girls all wear white shoes..
Thank you. -
Thank you tiredmama.

Just though I'd post a short congratulations to all girls and parents' of girls who have made it into the SCGS Secondary 1 2015 cohort! I assure you all that you have made the right (in fact, best!) choice!
It's going to be a fun 3 days of orientation (part of the comm, haha, so I would know) and we hope all the girls will be active participants and enjoy themselves! It will be a great four years (or ten, if SC Pri) in SCGS
Look forward to seeing all the juniors on the 2nd!
Just a few things to note,
1. Please PLEASE do not tuck in the PE T-Shirt! It is not meant to be tucked in unlike some schools so if you do, it will look (to be honest) super ridiculous and amusing. So, just, don't.
2. During CCA walkabout, take note of ANY cca you MIGHT join, even if you have one you already want so so badly. Auditions are tough for some CCAs, especially those with small intake but high demand, so I suggest going for the CCA you want as well as 2-3 more auditions for other CCAs that may suit you too as backup! To do so you need to be very very alert of the dates being announced during the CCA showcases or you'll miss the auditions! I advise bringing along some paper and a pen to the showcase and jotting down ALL DATES AND TIMES of the auditions you signed up for.
3. On the topic of shoes that was earlier brought up, up till 2013 the school was pretty strict with the all white rule, such that even logos had to be coloured in with white markers and so on. They've relaxed this now though knowing many brands have their logos on the shoes, so just make sure the logo is very small and hardly visible or you'll be called out. Anyway there is always the option of scouting for shoes with logo print in white, personal example for me would be Adidas and Northstar if girls and parents still want high quality shoes without the hassle of colouring or removing the logo
Yup I guess that's all for now
Once again a big welcome to the new members of the SC family!!! :congrats: -

:? Hi, may I know if the school allow the pupils to choose only one club or society as their cca? Or the pupils need to have a second sport cca?
-
Answering some questions from above,
1. Iβm Sec 4 this year (2015)
came from another primary school so itβs my fourth (and last) year in SC! @snoopy5
2. Most students only join one CCA and it can be any CCA - a club/society, a sport, a performing art or a uniformed group. Students who want to join a second CCA can only do so if they are very sure they can cope (and prove they can in the year ahead) and the second CCA should be a non strenuous one etc. A student could have a sport as her first CCA and library as her 2nd CCA. The only 2nd CCA you can take up is a club, like the Library, Math, Science & Environment or Sports Recreational. The limit of 1 CCA for most students is to make sure students have time to focus on their studies! Also girls will realize that when you reach upper sec especially there really is limited time for CCA let alone 2 so i wouldnt advise unless your daughter/you are really really passionate on two CCAs! -
:thankyou: Thank you very much grownearerthesky!

Thank you grownearethesky.
Just wondering anyone can advise whether the girls are allowed to wear their own jacket to school in the morning or they can only wear the school approved jacket? If they can only wear the school approved jacket, where can we purchase it from as my girl is afraid of coldness in the morning?
Thank you.
