Hi all, i am back! Tell your child try to relax n dont be too stress. Have a good thought in what you want to study in uni and what career you want before choosing subjs combi for A lvl. Interest is very important. You would naturally do well if you have the interest. Approach the teachers if u need help. Most of the teachers are very very helpful and go beyond their scope to help. The non teaching staffs also give great support to the students and they are very caring. Ultimately I still think interest in the subjects is very important. Dont be upset if your child choose wierd combinations or non standard subjects. Talk to them a out the future path of their choice and if they are still very sure what they want, suppprt them. The school take it very seriously when come to choosing A lvl subjs combi. They really go all the way to make sure all students get the combi they want. Applause that!
It is so nice to hear tha . Thanks -

Hi justsay, reasonable, as per her expectation.
Just to mention another point, if you happen to meet a teacher you think not teaching well, you dont understand his/her lesson, dont panic. Book the teacher for one to one consultation. Some teachers might not be good in class but explain better one to one. When near to prelim time, you can also consult other teachers (not your subject teacher), everyone is very willing to help.
Just approach the teachers, don't stop there when you cannot get hold of them once or twice. Keep trying, keep booking, keep asking. Dont be afraid, they are all very willing to help.
We have to understand, RV is a strong Chinese culture school. We all know, Chinese mentality of teaching is very different from western. Chinese like to scold a lot, unkind words, use ęæå°ę³, very strict and stern. This is just a way of teaching, not against any person in particular. You cannot compare RV school culture with other schools, they are quite different.

It's so nice to read your post and what you mentioned above is what DD1 been always complaining about!
DD1 just joined the RV family in Jan 2015 and is slowly trying to adapt to the culture and the teaching systems. Yes, most times in the evening when I am back home or on the back home, she will call me on the mobile and start her \"complaining session\". I try many times to explain patiently that teachers have their ways of teachings so she just has to learn to adapt to it, just like all her other seniors been gone through.
I must say my girl is a bit å°å§ type so we always tease that she has to go through all these \"hardship\"

Thank you daisyt for your encouragment and advice.

Haha, no worries. I have gone through the complaining session. Yes, adapt, but still go approach the teachers. Haha

This was my prediction 1 year ago and it is time to take stock.
I hope your forecast is wrong.WeiHan:
Just for your info.
This coming 2014 JC2 batch should be slightly weaker than the first two batches but should be stronger than the 2012 and 2013 batches.
I would like to see the current JC2 batch excel in the upcoming A level exams.
I notice RV's website has updated its 2014 A level results with more details a few days after 2nd march.
This is what they published now as contrast to the brief release a few days ago
==
We would like to congratulate our graduates on the following achievements:
72.2% of our students offering four H2 subjects scored all 4 As or Bs.
35.7% of our students scored three distinctions and above.
42 students attained a perfect score of 90 rank points for university admission.
151 students scored at least 5 Distinctions.
79 students scored at least 6 Distinctions.
35 students scored at least 7 or 8 Distinctions.
==
The percentage of students with 3 or more H2 distinctions this year should be 35.7%. Because I notice 151 students have obtained at least 5 distinctions and that is already 37.2% of the cohort (cohort size 406). So 3 distinction cannot be 35.7%. There is probably a typo error.
So back to the prediction one year ago. It seems that the prediction is perfectly right on. \"This coming 2014 JC2 batch should be slightly weaker than the first two batches but should be stronger than the 2012 and 2013 batches.\"
Going on. My prediction for next year. 2015 JC2 batch should get even better results than this if they do not become complacent. I am not sure if the results will bounce back to the second batch standard or even exceed that record but it is worth a fight because this coming batch is very good. -
