Why don't you try engaging a S'porean auntie (thru agency) instead?
The agency one time fee is beared by them and if you get one that is not too elderly should be okay.
If it makes your blood boil every time they turn up no point even if they are cheaper.. ...

I have been engaging part time homekeepers for several years and I have come to accept the fact that none is perfect. Some like to chit chat on the phone while working, some make a lot of noise while cleaning, some are habitual late-comers etc… So long as they are honest, maintain a certain standard of cleanliness and do the specified chores, I will just close one eye…

My part time maid is Thai, S’pore PR. She has been with me for 2 yrs. I don’t tell her how to do, only what to do (extras like cleaning the fridge or internal kitchen cabinets). She addresses me by name, not "A". That is basic courtesy. Most times, she is punctual; if late is 5 mins. She is slow but sometimes she worked extra 15 mins. Fees is $12/hr. I don’t give her $50 for 4 hrs like some mummies here round up.


She knows certain rules like ironing first when my children are still sleeping. If by the time she needs to vacuum and they still haven’t waken up, she would close the door so that noise can be minimised.

I don’t tolerate rudeness. If I were you, I would sack them immediately and change new ones.

as much as possible, i wouldn't want to pass house keys to the PT helper. for those who do, do u ask for a copy of their IC? what additional measures did u have to ensure security and safety? thanks!

Last time I had a PT helper who came ONLY on Sunday for 4 hours. Once she completed her work, I will pay in cash.

I will not give house keys to the PT helper. So, ONLY ask her to come on Sun.
