      Hi all

A bit of a panick mode as dd did not do well in her normal chinese sa1 paper 😞
Does anyone have recommendations for assessment books for P6, focussing on section A, the MCQ section at start of paper. Her compre is average, so want to strengthen her other sections esp the ciyu xuanzhe...any advice would be appreciated.

      TIA!

Before psle, keep doing top school exam paper from 2010 to 2012which you can easily get it from Internet. It will help her to strengthen 词语选择

Hi Champion and Thetrees123, thanks so much for sharing the information; will try to get hold of the 3 assessment books you mentioned for practice... Hopefully not too thick since we start off this late 😞 also trying to print off some past year papers online for more practice ; but most of them needs subscription and chargeable. Thanks again for your advice!

I bought the 3B assessment book by SAP…it consists of exam components tested in daughter’s schools…for eg, 完成对话,完成句字 and also the comprehension with the ‘summarized version’ in the boxes.

            同步练习.

                Hi Champion,

My daughter doesn’t like this title as font is small…actually for assessment books, if the font is bigger…kids will find it ‘friendlier’…then again, the book will be thicker of course. I am still waiting for 怡学 to release 3B revised edition of 强化练习.

Somehow I feel that the approach to mastering languages is different from Maths. (more) Practice doesn’t make perfect, unlike Maths.

Doing more compre exercises doesn’t seem to help much.
Or am I the only one with this observation?

Math is one subject where practice makes perfect.
For Languages, I think it would be overcoming the fear of comprehension...with more sections tested now for Chinese, I need to get my daughter to do more 完成句子,辨字测验. English wise, read more...it can be rather boring if we have to do that all of June...so it's just the morning that we do that....noon we go out 🕺

What is boring to do that all of June- doing assessment books or reading?

Doing assessment books - of cos la. The thought of it already make me 😓 :faint: and I am not the one doing it wor.

Reading - ok la. As a student, I loved reading. I could spend 90% of my time reading. Only stopping to do the necessary - shower, sleep etc.
