Hi, does anyone know the marking scheme of the comprehension? Looking at my dc’s practice and exam papers, I noticed that certain 3 or 4 marks questions were given very low marks although the answers were quite closed to the model answers. TIA.

Hi, I do not know about the marking scheme for PSLE Comprehension but chance upon the above past year paper where there is a breakdown of how the teachers gave the marks. Very tough

I am not so sure about magazine, but for news, you can go to the straits time link http://www.straitstimes.com/ or http://www.todayonline.com/, or you can get hardcopy newspapers at any retail stores.

Are there any useful strategies for 短文填空?

This is one segment that my potato boy keeps losing marks. I am able to help him in other segments except this, as his Chinese vocabulary is not strong.

1) 的 precedes nouns

优雅的环境、可疑的情况、团结友爱的集体、他的妈妈、可爱的花儿、谁的橡皮、清清的河水

地 precedes verbs/actions
高声地喊、愉快地唱、拼命地逃、疯狂地咒骂、严密地注视、一次又一次地握手、迅速地包围、
沙沙地直响、斩钉截铁地说、从容不迫地申述、用力地踢、仔细地看、开心地笑笑

用法口诀
左边白，右边勺，名词跟在后面跑。

2) 竟然 和 居然
Both are adverbs; meaning unexpectedly (出乎意料)
居然 is more emphatic (语气略重)

例句：
今天聚会你居然不到。
这么重要的事，你居然忘了。”
你居然来了！(nuance: 我不希望你来，你厚着脸皮来了)
你竟然来了！(nuance: 我本来希望你来，但没想到你真来了)
