Hi parents, i just moved house to Ubi. Would like to enquire if anyone able to advise how to enrol my child into Maha Bodhi School as it is just opposite my address. My child is currently in his P3, understand now is their mid-year exam, it could probably not the right time to do transfer now, however, i really hope there’s vacancy for my child after June holidays. Would greatly appreciate if anyone can be of help in assisting or give some better advise? Looking forward!

Hi Jasmine21, it might be better for you to check with the school whether there are any vacancies at the moment. If there isn’t any, you probably have to ask to be put on wait list. Chances of having a place are higher at the end of the year as there could be some students moving out after they are being offered places in a GEP school.
-
Even if there are vacancies after June holidays, MBS primary still prefer to let transfer take place, at the end of P3 -
after MBS students had taken the GEP tests, some students had been offered GEP from entire P3 cohort, their parents attended MOE (GEP) briefing at NUS High, and decided to transfer their child out of MBS, to one of the GEP schools (popular ones are to nearby Tao Nan, some also managed to transfer successfully to Bukit Timah GEP Nanyang, RGPS), thereby creating vacancies, for other students from other schools to Transfer in.
Yes, there are some MBS girls, that chose to goto RGPS (GEP), instead of to Nanyang (GEP) or to Tao Nan (GEP).
Tao Nan and Nanyang, are SAP schools.
Although RGPS is not a SAP school, however since Primary 1 Term 1, day 1 : All RGPS students study Higher Chinese, not Normal Chinese. Hence, MBS girls after Transfer, do not lose out in terms of subject Chinese, for those MBS parents who are concerned & prefer their children to continue with Higher Chinese.
The number of vacancies that arise : will depend on the number of students leaving MBS, for that particular level which u are trying to seek Transfer into the school, per level.
based on past years' trend, normally Students who are offered GEP : most tend to come from the Top class, amongst entire P3 cohort.
At end of P2 : MBS students are streamed into different P3 classes.
Thus, just wait patiently.
Meanwhile, get your child to do well, in coming 2017 Mid-year P3 SA1, and also do well in GEP tests, if u are mentally preparing him / her, for Transfer. Note the Transfer date-line set, when u are filling up the Transfer Form.
As the Transfer selection process is competitive, When MBS accept students for Transfer into her school : MBS will look at The Applicants' lower primary (P1 to P3) academic results, plus other type of supporting achievement (if any).
MBS, being one of the SAP schools, for Transfer-in students : your subject Chinese, need to be strong.
From your perspective, as a parent,
Stating distance reasons like \"staying opposite The school, very nearby\" sounds Reasonable. Nothing wrong.
But from the school's perspective, processing other applicants' Transfer forms concurrently, some also staying nearby, just like you, the school will look beyond distance, because your child is already P3, not K2 entering P1. The child had gone through 3 years of primary school education, by the time Transfer forms are being processed.
At end of P3 :
you will see more Transfer movement, both in and out of MBS, taking place.
But successful Transfer-in students, won't get to join P4 Top class.
At end of P4 : students face another round of streaming, into P5 classes.

Maha Bodhi primary doesn't conduct any Open house.
Open House -
is conducted either in NEW primary schools or in those existing schools : where a lot of remaining vacancies are still left behind at end of Phase 2C Supp, so in order to attract more parents to enter such schools, they therefore conduct Open House, to lure parents to enrol their kids.
Maha Bodhi primary doesn't fall into such category : because every year, balloting is conducted in Phase 2C, for SCs staying less than 1 km, from MBS. PR : zero chance
based on recent, latest 2017 MOE announcement, Macpherson primary to merge into Cedar primary :-

Thus, for SC parents who fail to ballot successfully into Maha Bodhi primary at Phase 2C, this coming July 2017 (two months from today May 2017), for 2018 Primary 1 intake :-
if Cedar primary still have remaining vacancies in Phase 2C Supp : you may consider enrolling your child, into Cedar.
Or if your child happen to be a girl : can also consider enrol her into Cannosa Convent primary
by end of Phase 2C :-
Maha Bodhi primary : will be full-house, all seats taken
may refer past historical balloting trend, for MBS

if you're nervous of balloting at Phase 2C for MBS, & your child is a girl, can also consider Haig Girls primary -

Hi thanks for replying. I'm going to register my dd to MBS in phase 2A2. I'm staying in sengkang. I'm just worried that is too early for her if the school is going to start one session next year 2018. Any idea is the school will start all in morning session next year? May I know there are how many students in a class?Jennevie:
