You don’t extract teeth for no reason, right?
Even adult teeth would move (if there is one missing, to spread out). -
my nephew’s dentist said must extract.
my son’s dentist said no need.
but when the tooth is shaky, we just encourage the kid to shake it. -

Hi!I heard from different source. some dentist said must remove the bb teeth otherwise the new teeth will not grow properly in place. other dentist said no need to worry, as the teeth will move inside the mouth. once the bb teeth drop out by itself, the permanent teeth will move back to its place.
I don't know who to believe, liao.
I encountered the same problem as you.
I bring to 1st dentist...he insists that it should be extract out. Cos' the new tooth grow just right behind the baby tooth. But Baby tooth shows no sign or \"movement\" yet.
The Dentist keep persuaded me to do it..However, I just don't feel good. So I go for another dentist 2nd opinion. at GPA @ Novena. So I told the entire story to the Dentist, he examine my boy and told me that according to his experience and recommendation, he does not recommend me to extract the tooth out cos' he say, its the same \"logic\" as fruit. If the fruit is not ripe yet, why should you pluck it out? He told me, that the baby tooth is slightly shaking, so just recommended my boy to \"shake\" it as and when...so it will start to signal to the brain and soon in a few months time, the baby tooth will dropped by it self...Then the NEW tooth will soon move to the right place.
I asked the same question... who is right?
3 person tells me the same answer. The person who do not want to earn your money will have your son's best interests.
So, now..my son's baby tooth is slightly more shaking...so I guess it will be pretty soon.
Hope this help! -

First time, it was my DS3. He had 8 fillings and 2 extractions under GA when he was ard 3. As he was already in presch. My first check up was at Sch Dental Center at Health Promotion Board. As his case could not be handled there, it was referred to NDC. Hence his case was partially subsidised, think the bill was ard $1k.
Second time, my DS4, ard 20mths, his front teeth were decaying and as a result the gum was infected. Dentist blamed it on my TBF/demand feeding routine. Anyway, instead of waiting for him to be older, we decided to go to the same dr as private patient. Bill came up to abt $1.6k for 4 extractions and 4 fillings.
Hope this help. -
No offence to anyone, but after reading all the above, I again get this feeling that dentists (and doctors) will say whatever they like so they can get you to part with your cash.
Anyway, when a (baby) tooth is shaky (not decay), I would personally advise just leave it. My DD had a tooth that was shaky for more than a month, but eventually it fell off on its own, naturally. -
Thinker:
May I know your waiting for the procedure in each occassion? The dentist is waiting time in KKH is May/June. He has a private clinic too. But his consultation charges are 3times more than KKH.

Should I go polyclinic and see gum infection and get a referral letter to KKH to enjoy subsidized rate? -

If your child is in pre sch, you should try to get appt in sch dental center which cater to preschoolers. Getting an appt is probably a month or shorter depending on availability. The referral to NDC is abt a month. The scheduling of op is actually quite fast, usu the week after. -
