Am a graduated student just graduated this year awaiting my O level results in the coming January! Would like to share my experience and thoughts on Edgefield over the past four years.
Academics wise teachers and the school pays very close attention to it, and if you're 'not up to standard' or is falling behind average/others you will be called out to have extra remedials/lessons during holidays. Exam paper standards wise, i'd would say are up to par with the better neighbourhood schools, so as to prepare students to have better insight and depth to the certain subject. What is unlike other schools (i'd say), is that during sec 3 streaming Amath is actually compulsory for all express students so it gives students opportunities to learn and prepare (if they want to take up math in jc)! Of course, if your child is really bad in it or is not interested he/she may drop the subject at the end of the year. Scholarships are given to students who score 230 and above for psle in sec 1 & they would also be given the opportunity to join the \"The Odyssey of the Mind\" which would help them grow and learn more. (Two teams from our school has made it to US so far!) Teachers pay close attention to students and try to help those who are weaker and they are more than willing to help if a student needs it. You can call them out/message them beforehand during breaktime, after school etc and they'll attend to you.
Environmental wise i'd say it's pretty vibrant. A big parade square and field and also many classroom blocks too. Sec 4 students have a seperate block from the other levels so as to ensure they will not be distracted from the noise from other levels! Except that since it's punggol, airplanes would fly past almost every few minutes which i must admit, may be distracting and very loud at times. Other than that it's pretty good. Also if im not wrong our school starts later than most schools, as lessons start at 8:15am.
For the new principal, since he just joined this year we never really got to see his traits, strengths etc. But from what i know he'd very friendly and tries to interact with the students as much as he can, and takes time off in putting effort to areas in which the students/schools can improve on. This year he specially went to every sevondary 4 class to ask for our opinions on areas to improve on. Vice principal Mr Tan is especially nice too (and cute haha) as he'd often tell us encouraging words and would also conduct special lessons so as to motivate/help us better.
Also i've seen from previous posts stating that Taekwondo is a compulsory cca, in fact, it is not a compulsory CCA. It is a compulsory curriculum in our timetables (so like normal school periods) and if your child passes each test, he/she would be able to be a black belter in sec 4. Don't worry though, lessons would only be for two periods a week and would stop once you go to Sec 4, so as to prepare students for the national exams. Although it may be costly with the grading fees and dobok/belts, i'd say it's a good opportunity for your child for the future if their interested as one senior from our school actually made it to the national taekwondo team through learning it here!

As far as i know (for my year), to be able to take up pure science (double or triple) you need to be able to get 70 and above for your lower secondary science results (the school will calculate for you but sec 2 plays a more important role). If you get around 60+ (near 70) and you want the appeal/take up a pure science subject the school will offer you to take pure bio only + combined science (phys/chem) so technically you're still taking triple science. Amath is compulsory for all express students no matter what so! Subject combinations normally students will take 8 subjects here, so if you take combined science you would have to take one combined humanities + one pure humanities (literature here), coursework in replacement of pure science (art, d&t & fce). But out of 5 classes 4 of them take up at least one pure science.
As for mean L1R5 sadly i dont know about it, i'm sorry. Percentage going to JC i woild say about 30-40% (i do not know of the actual statistics, im stating this based on my seniors) Hope this helps in any way! -
Hi,
my gal is Sec 3 next year at EFSS. Just went thru’ the current streaming.
For Triple sci: Overall must be 70% and above
Sci & Math 75% and above
For double sci: Overall must be 65% and above
Sci & Math 70% and above
For A. Math: Math must be 60% and above
Only the triple and double pure sci classes will be taking 8 subjects. Triple will be with one combined humanities and Double will have one Pure Humanities and one combined Humanities.
Pure History: 70% and above
Pure Geo: 70% and above
Pure Lit: 60% and above with a pass in Eng.
Sec one - Honeymoon.
Sec two - Work harder. -
Would like to know School COP is 224. Will it be risky if student t-score is 225?
-
Cannot tell but can still put since got 6 choices. Edgefield is quite popular in SK and Punggol area.

not at all! i entered the school with tscore of 220 (my year COP was 219) and as long as you work hard and is consistent with your work it'll be fine! Managed to come in top few in class for exams still & top 20% in cohort so anything is possible! -
What abt 222? If I put first choice, will it be risky ?
