From past results, no balloting for Phase 2B if < 1km. Well, situation change every year. I hope it's the same this yr as I am under Phase 2B as community leader and stays < 1km. If still can't get in, then I will choose North Vista for my son.Hi
Anybody can advise whether Nan Chiau need balloting under Phase 2B? -
Hi Timtim
Thanks for your information. My suitation exactly same like your. Thking of Anchorgreen Primary school as my second choice.
Let hope both our kids can get into the school that we want. -
i’m staying within 1km from nan chiau. what are the chances of being successful in phase 2C <1km ballot?
in the balloting history chart, it says "262%" for 2009…does it mean 1 out of 2.62 chance of getting in? -
tohdj:
Since this group is <1km, we can assume that all 262% of the applications (APP) are in the ballot, which means that each person has a 1 in 2.62 chance of winning the ballot. Another way to look at it is 1 child out of 2.62 children will win the ballot.i'm staying within 1km from nan chiau. what are the chances of being successful in phase 2C <1km ballot?

hi, I live in sengkang too. please advice!
Can anyone can tell me between Compassvale primary and Rivervale primary , these 2 schools which is better?
Currently , I am doing PV in the both school, but still don know which one to choose -
sunflower2005:
If you look at the poll above, 6% of parents prefer compassvale and 11% prefer Rivervale. So does that mean that Rivervale is the better school? No. It only means it is more popular. Both Compassvale and Rivervale are good schools. Whether or not a school is \"better\" is subjective and dependent on each individual's perception of the school and its staff. Since you are already doing PV for both schools, I'm sure you already have a better idea than most on how each compares with the other. What are your current thoughts?hi, I live in sengkang too. please advice!

chiefkiasu,
Thank you for ur reply.
I have yet not start PV work at Rivervale, Parents meeting only in 22 May . according to the person in charge, the hours clock in only start to calculate in jul10.
so far in compassvale , I have good feeling about the teacher they are very friendly. the activitive also good.
Compare Compassvale and Rivervale, Rivervale is nearer to my house, but still <1km in 2km.
Any decision will wait for PV in Rivervale start in Jul.
hope to hear some comments in forum about this both sch, but they are not much comments. think not many parents staying in sengkang. :  -
Hi,I’m a pupil of CVPS,or Compassvale Primary School.
I’m in the P6 cohort this year and for the past 6 years,I have been nurtured into an outspoken and outgoing girl. In Compassvale, we are engaged on interesting lessons and we have very interesting teachers too.
Let me give an example, I hated science,a lot, simply because I found it hard to get an A. (Fyi, I’m a straight A student) This year is an important year and i am lucky to have gotten my science teacher. He engages us onto fun and lively science lessons, making up stories and making us laugh while still being able to deliver the science facts. Now, many teachers do not like to answer nonsensical questions. I am a very curious and fanciful girl. I love asking weird questions such as "Why can’t we build a bridge to link earth and the moon?" My tuition teacher refused to answer the question, saying i was asking stupid questions. However, when i posted the question to my school science teacher, he told me to wait until the end of class(which is also the end of school) to ask him. After school, my friends crowded around him to ask him all sorts of questions and he answered every single one of them.Even if he cannot give us an answer, he would say "I will ask the higher being" and sent us into fits of laughter.
I am supposedly suppose to go to Nan Chaiu, because my dad was an old student there. As I could not get in,I was sent to Compassvale. There, I met a lot of new friends and alot of teachers. Our curriculum is wide, with many programs for us to take part in, such as Mathematical Olympiad and Odyssey of The Mind.
Our school’s performing arts recently took part in the SYF and the results are as below:
Band-Bronze
Chinese dance-Gold
Indian Dance-Silver
Harmonica-Silver
Malay Dance-Silver
I read somewhere in the posts about the importance of CCAs.
CCAs are very important as they play a big role in your child’s p6 year. If your child have a strong CCA and participated and performed well in recognized competitions, your child will have a higher chance of getting into his/her choice of secondary school through DSA.
Oh and our school’s top PSLE pupil usually scores around 270+.
I wish all the parents luck in choosing the primary school for your kids.
(PS I’m using my aunt’s account) -
Hi niece of talk_aboutstudies,
Tks for taking time in enlightening us parents with your insightful comments, especially I guess now you are having your SA ?
I heard your school will be undergoing upgrading from end 2010 to end 2012, does the school explain to the students/parents of this and also where will the students go to for those affected facilities to be upgraded (the basketball court, netball court, field.) ?
And how about other facilities. CVPS is quite small compared to other pri school but the population is rather big. Is there constrain in using facilities such as the computer lab, etc ?
I also heard that CVPS just had new principal and VP. How do you feel about the new principal ? Is he doing something new and how is he compared to previous Mr Govindan ?
Also, your school is having double session. Do you find it less conducive to have lessons in the afternoon session compared to the morning session ? IS CVPS going into single session soon ?
And does the school separate students into top, average and below average classes ? I understand that disparity among students could be big.
And do you or your friends go to Morning Star Student Care centre ? If yes, do you have any comments on the centre and the teachers there ?
Lastly, I am curious to know why you could not get into Nan Chiau if your father is old boy there (which would qualify you under phase 2A2), which is before the parent volunteer phase 2B.
To any other parents,
Strange we do not hear anything about Rivervale Pri School and Nan Chiau. Hope to hear some soon.
Tks. -
Seemed like so far, comments about North Vista look promising! Anyone has any more feedback about this school and its teaching methods? Am getting very curious about this school. heeheee…at least we know that there is another option for a good school otherwise the focus is always on NCPS.
