Hi Crayonmum, thank you for responding to Q4.
Any other parents/pupils would like to share info on the other questions? -
Hi longshoredrift
Am considering to send my ds to MSHS and would like to ask u the following below:
1. Are there quite many new students mainly from its affiliation school? Do students from non-affiliated schools find it hard to mix and blend in?
2. Does sports CCA (e.g. athletics or Taekwondo, Bowling) require selection to join?
3. How fast pace are classes being taught? I have heard of the “you are expected to know” kinda culture for some good schools and curriculums may not be that well taught thoroughly.
4. Are students expected to reach at 730am or 8am? (as I saw the time table starts somewhere around 8am)
Look to advice on above and thanks for your time! -
hi Ags,
1. My son was not from affiliated pri school, he did feel a bit strange in the early days as many of the boys already knew each other... but, he had no problem fitting in as there are many others who are not from affiliated pri school as well.
2. I think so, they'll go thru trials etc.
3. He feels the pace is fine. He's an average student.
4. have to reach school by 7:30, 8am lesson starts.
Hope that helps

My boy will be going MSHS next yr. May I know the dismissal time? Is it late dismissal on either Mondays or Tuesdays (dependent on classes), and CCAs on Wed and Fri? Thanks!

Hi there
1. Majority of students are from non affiliated schools. Yes, there are quite a number of affiliated students but after the first week-month, students would already have settled down and blended in.
2. Most sports CCAs do require selection trials. Very few (like taekwondo) do not require trials.
3. I felt that lower secondary classes are quite slow paced. The pace of teaching does get much faster in upper secondary because some content in lower secondary will be repeated in upper secondary so you are expected to have a basic idea of it.
4. Students are expected to reach school before 7.30am because assembly will start at 7.30am. Classes will start at around 8.10am. An exception is on Thursdays where you are expected to reach school by 8.30am. -

Hi longshoredrift, thank you for the detailed reply.

I’m not too sure about the dismissal times on Monday and Tuesday because it different from lower secondary to upper secondary. Most CCAs will have training on Wednesday and Friday. Some like St John’s Ambulance hold trainings on Saturdays.
