My son received his Midterm Paper last Wednesday. It’s demoralising.

      He got only 52 marks.
      A lot of ‘killer’ questions.
Talking of teaching less learning more.
Schools are teaching little but killing more! (Killing morale of students).

      Does Math Workshop really help?
I try finding for Fabian’s Workshop mentioned by you in today’s paper.
      But couldn’t find it.
      Can any body help?

The advertisement can be found in today's classified page C7 under column 636. Look out for the \"tree\" - the ad is just right below.

          Hope it helps ! 😄

            My boy is in P6.

Will heed your advice and skip on Sponge Workshop.

            Time is precious.
Certainly want my boy to catch some balls.

              Lisa,

              I called,
FEG sent an email to me.
              With the following synopsis

Using a thematic approach, Fabian identifies the main ideas, skills and principles in mathematics through well-chosen themes in problem solving to:

1.\tFacilitate classification and organisation of ideas
2.\tDevelop deep understanding across content and topics
3.\tExtend the knowledge, concepts and basic principles acquired in a specific learning situation to new situations
4.\tHighlight how a Change In Focus on a problem can lead to alternative perspectives in creative problem solving

Fabian Ng has a Master in Education (Mathematics Education) and has teaching experience in reputable primary schools, secondary schools as well as junior colleges. He has taught the best EM1 and gifted classes as well as the weakest classes. He conducts pedagogy workshops in Mathematics for teachers and tutors, awareness workshops for parents and enrichment workshops for students. His lively and creative instruction methods have impacted his learners immensely and transformed their creative thinking perspectives.

I intend to sign up my girl who had done badly in her midterm too.
But I can’t comment on the effectiveness yet.
So try at your own risk!

              Hope it helps.

my gal is the above average type in p1p2, and average in p3p4 so maybe that’s why she caught no balls. for kids who are very smart, maybe they will find the workshops useful.

My DS has been with Fabian since P6 in 2012. He’s a really patient and dedicated teacher. They have Science classes (primary and Secondary levels) too. The secondary level sci teacher is great too. DS also takes o levels physics and chemistry classes there.
