Do you mind sharing if your DS manage to get a WL or CO for science domain for the other ip school? Because I would have thought if there is no certs in a domain, chances of being successful are lower and people would only try a domain they have certs in. Thanks.

I think your Friend can try leadership domain or debate ( if he has this talent/cert too). Just sharing, vice head prefect from our school for past two years managed to get a WL/CO so far, under leadership domain. The debate team wise, hearsay many managed to get a WL too.

You're probably right that not many will try for a domain they have no certs in. Still, we decided to give it a shot because it was 1 of the 2 schools DS wanted to go, and science was a subject he was passionate about too. Moreover, there is at least a chance if one tried. DS was fortunate enough to be offered a CO for science domain in that school, and we are so grateful to the school.

just curious... how does one know if a child has interest/ flair in humanities at pri level? apart from immersing them into geog/ his/ lit secondary text.. im referring to beyond sch book knowledge.. what kind of questions do such kids ask? how to identify them? thanks

Humanities was a new domain in year 2017. if I recall, the selection criteria and domain description had no reference to hist, geog or lit. Instead, it referred to debates, creative thinking, public speaking, odyssey of the mind etc. Back in primary school, DS has a liking for creative writing. He loves to write expressively and imaginatively. He has many interesting ideas on things, and is probably not shy to express them. Rather than hardcore knowledge, it was his character and soft skills that we felt matched to a T to the domain and went for it.

these being said, odyssey of the mind is an acs thing? other schs dun really participate in it. or mayb by invitation only..

so the selection criteria sounds much of soft skills n character more than book knowledge...?

Hmm, perhaps I should have said list of achievements instead of selection criteria. At the end of the day, no one knows really knows what the school looks for in giving out the COs and WLs for the various domains. So just go for the domain you / your DC feel is the best “fit”.
