Hi, we just went to the new uniform supplier today. I find the material for the uniform white shirt very thin and translucent. Is there any alternative place that we can buy off-the-shelf white shirts? (Not considering custom-made.) How about white shirts for other schools like SJI?

If you don’t mind driving, go to JB. Just pop into any major mall that sells school uniforms (eg Aeon Mall at Bukit Indah where a lot of Singaporeans hang out). On level two of Aeon dept store, you can see racks of white shirts (at least 6-7 brands) of RI type shirts (Malaysia secondary schools has one common design for all the boys, and it is exact same design as RI’s down to collar and pocket size). You can choose by budget, sewing quality, cloth thickness etc.

Otherwise, I only know of SJI International that shares the same shirt design as RI in Singapore. There’s only one supplier, and there are very limited stocks for their own students. Hence I won’t recommend that route.

Thank you for the information! We just went to Aeon Permas Jaya last week and saw uniforms on sale. I was tempted to check them out but wasn’t sure if the design is the same.

Not sure sch starts at 7.25 or 7.30am, son said best report by 7.20am

Mon 3.10
Tue 12.50.
This is the default third lang day. From 3pm or 3.30pm onwards depends on your class timetable. Til 6plus.
Wed 3.10
Thur 12.50
This is day i know have RSP and galileo or some lit enrichment prog. Til 4-5pm depending on prog schedule.
Fri 12.30
This day is for merit cca (optional) from 2-3.30pm.

Sports and some aesthetic cca are 3x a week. Can be Mon, Wed, Fri (3.30-6.30pm) or Tue, Thurs and Sat morning. Most other 2x aweek cca will have up to 3x a week min nearing competition/performances.

It is almost impossible to arrange for full turn up on proj discussions so the boys managed by doing it online or after Thur or Fri lunch before the next activity.

Generally if one doesn't take 3rd lang or any enrichment or merit cca, with a 2x a week cca, there are actually quite some free time.

Days are typically long, filled with either core CCA (compulsory, at least 2-3 times per week depending on Sports or Uniform group’s’ commitments), Galileo (Science) or Euler (Maths) programmes, and 3rd lang/RSP. Kid is back after 6pm everyday. On top of all these, there will be revisions for tests, assignments to complete, projects to do, and yes time to be set aside for networking (aka gaming) with friends.


No worries, all the kids will have PHDs at process efficiencies (aka getting as much work done in school as possible) and time management after a while, so that they can continue to pursue their individual passions (esports and gaming for mine). the kids have longer days and more things on their plates than most of us. But kids are resilient creatures, they can adapt and grow through the experience.

May I know how a student gets admitted to the Euler programme and what’s exactly does bring admitted to the programme means?

Hi, my son did not receive the letter from MOE stating that he is eligible for HMTL. I hope to appeal to the school to allow him to take HMTL.


Has anyone experienced the same situation? I wonder what are the chances that the school will allow him to take it. And whether or not there will be any aptitude test, interview etc.

Can anyone also provide a rough estimate for % of students who DO NOT take HMTL?

We have not experienced the same situation but maybe I can share a little info that may help. During the open house, we talked to a MT teacher. She said generally all the boys take HMTL since they usually meet the criteria set by MOE :
• Ranked among the top 10% of the\tPSLE;\tor
• In the top 11%- 30%\tband who meet the language criteria (i.e.an A* grade in the MTL or at least a Merit in the\tHMTL).

I believe the school has the discretion to offer to those who might not have met the criteria. Give RI a call or clarify during reporting day.

Sometime in Jan, the boys will bring home a notice regarding Euler application timeline and pre requisite. I can only recall need A* in psle math and a gd achievement in an mo competition. Then when application approved, the boys will sit for a written test. Then shortlisted boys undergo a round of group interview. I understand that final selection numbers was between 20-25 boys this year.
It is a pull out prog. That means during math curriculum time, the Euler boys will move from their form class to another class for lessons.
