Can I ask a few qns abt NHS? If a child goes in without HCL at sec 1, can the child take HCL ultimately? What is the criteria for HCL?

For Sports CCA, let’s just take netball or softball for example. If a child didn’t take these 2 sports at pri level, can she be able to do netball or softball cca in NHS?

The students will go through selection tests and if the coach thinks they are suitable, they will be selected even if they did not play the sport in pri sch.

Can any parents share their experiences on HMT screening/assessment in NHHS for students who did not do HMT in their primary school? Thanks.

Yes, think they can but depends on results and teacher's recommendation.

Like in sec 1, if I remembered correctly students can choose to take HCL. If those who taken HCL in pri guess hv more chances than those who may not. But even if students choose to take HCL, it will still depends on school allocation.

My child's classmate who opt for HCL at sec 1 but was not given. Teacher told her that if can show by results, there can still be chance to move into HCL in sec 2. I am not sure what is the criteria and did not get the chance to ask if that classmate will get to move into HCL or not.

Hi bb, can I ask how many classes are there in sec 1 at that time? How many are doing hcl and normal cl?

There are 9 sec 1 classes. Not sure how many hcl and cl classes though but would think at least 60-70% are hcl. School did not share how many of each type of classes.

Those students doing hcl stay in their classes and those doing cl will move to another class, not sure if they combine cl classes or not.

OK noted. Can I also ask abt subject combo at sec 3 onwards. I heard that all the classes have to take 2 maths and chemistry is compulsory for all? (please correct me if I am wrong).

Also, does the school offer triple science? How many classes will that be?

Sorry for so many qns. Please pardon me.

[quote=schen post_id=1948508 time=1574531407 user_id=59043]Hi all, any feedback or review on nan hua high school? My boy is keen on this school. Thanks in advance.

Agreed the kids in general are well behaved, since it is a chinese school, is more strict.
Yes, teachers put in a lot of effort to help the kids achieved good O level results.
Sadly now the school no longer shared their O level achievement on the school website.

Here's what i captured previously from school website for 2017.

For Sec 3, the following subjects are compulsory:
                        1) A Maths
                        2) E Maths
                        3) Chemistry
                        4) Social Studies + History/Geography

Yes, the school offers triple science. Don't know how many classes with triple science for next yr.
This will be determined by demand. Sec 2s are to select 3 choices. Right now, the sec 2 are already informed of their Sec 3 subjects combo granted. Still waiting for class assignment which will only be out in Dec.

For triple science class, they are only required to take 1 humanities.
According to school, this is quite risky as humanities subject is mandatory for L1R5 calculation.
School's recommendation is to take 2 sciences + 2 humanities.
