Tuition centers should not force parents to accept digital learning at full fees.

If tuition centres give a choice, continue online tuition at 10% discount or face to face tuition (no discount), which one will you choose?

For me I choose face to face because my electricity bill and printing cost is more than 10%.
But if classroom tuition, need to add in transport costs?

Currently I feel online saves a lot of time. Which cannot be calculated.

But anyway I dont think there will be such an option within the same center. It will be hard to coordinate for the teacher, to teach online and “offline” at the same time. And any center that has locked in the lease, will want to return to classroom teaching to get the full fees.

Tuition centres are starting to collect surveys, asking parents to choose between face to face or continue e-learning. Even if it is 20% discount, I will still opt for face to face because the entire experience is different. My daughter prefers face to face too as she finds it boring staring at the laptop for 2 hours. Maybe the tuition centres are not too far away from my house so I do not find it inconvenient at all. I can enjoy my massage, manicure, pedicure or facial while she is having tuition. 🙂

if is writing zuowen that type, better to go \"F2F\" classroom, because then u are disciplined to sit down there on the chair to write until finish (complete), then submit to lasohi, because laoshi is physically inside the classroom, waiting for students to write zuowen & submit to her.

          whereas (in contrast)
if do online tuition at home, those of us not disciplined to write zuowen, don't even bother to write anything, in the end never submit any zuowen script to let Tr mark. Do or don't your homework during online lesson, is up to us.

However, can't deny the fact that if we stay far away from tuition centre, this online is fantastic, because no need to waste time travelling up and down (to and fro), to centre.
For me, if have to choose between \"save time, travelling up and down to tuition centre\" or \"save costs, on black ink printer cartridge\", i rather save the precious travelling time. Imagine, come back from school already so tired, still got to go down tuition centre, some more

Exactly! Maybe chinese is her weakness subject and she really find it too difficult to stay focus for consecutively 2 hours staring at the laptop. I still think e-learning is more suitable for older and more disciplined students.

Looking forward to resume the “real” tuition.

Online is probably good if it is cheap and good, value for money. For the price I am paying now, no thanks. LOL. :nailbite:

Hi, my P3 kid enjoys the atmosphere of classroom teaching, But with the uncomfortable mask, she'd rather go online (lesson includes CL compo component)... (I feel that both forms of delivery from this centre are just as competent, hence am willing to fork out the same fees)

&, I've been actively communicating with the centre; they understand our wants, but will need time to work things out. So, keeping our fingers crossed that there're sufficient like-minded students...

Hi, as the P6 have to go back to sch everyday, my girl has already get used to wearing mask. In fact, in a tuition classroom where it is air conditioned , it is definitely more comfortable as compare to non air-con classroom in school.

I prefer online live lessons. Besides saving on travelling time, I can listen in on the lessons and understand better whether she really benefits. I don’t really mind paying the same fees as i feel online live lessons are just as effective.

But I agree with the part on writing compo. In a classroom setting, my girl is required to complete within the lesson. At home, she may take longer. So far, I try to make sure she complete within the same day so that I can email the work to her teacher.

Hi there, I beg to differ. A https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/04/coronavirus-microdroplets-talking-breathing-spread-covid-19/ has shown that the microdroplets linger in enclosed rooms, but when the windows are opened, the microdroplets (viral concentration) will disperse faster and some particles might even be blown out by classroom ceiling fans or wind.

If the tutor is teaching 2 or 3 hours through her surgical mask and face shield, she might feel breathless overtime. Granted, the masked up tutees can be told not to speak up and merely receive a one-way monologue delivery of lesson with just 1 tutor speaking, but then the class might as well migrate back home and be conducted online where everyone can unmask and un-mute to ask questions, shouldn't it?

Some students in Canossian Convent will not be able to take their mid-year O level mother tongue oral examinations because they have been quarantined. That must have been a blew to those affected pupils who had spent 2 months during CB revising for their oral exams. That's the risk you have to take for commuting to the tuition centre in shopping malls to mingle with other schools' pupils in semester 2.

I prefer online lessons till year end. Health is wealth. Money can be earned back.

We have choices. If tuition centre A cannot provide F2F tuition, we can always quit and move to tuition centre B. Others who are keen to have online may continue. Otherwise, private home tutor is another option.

Small group tuition of 5 to 10 is fine, schools have 200x more students. Furthermore, it is not as though kids are at home all the time. Many parents already bringing their little ones to shop and squeeze at NTUC during the beginning of CB. 🙂

Online tuition is too troublesome. All the endless printing, scanning and re-printing is a nightmare. Unless e-tuition fee is attractive and provide substantial savings, otherwise NO thanks.

Looking forward to be back at the tuition centres asap. 🙂
