Hi Chief Kiasu,
Will you advise whether I should send my child to KH? My hubby is a ex-student of KH but we are staying in Ang Mo Kio. I’m worry about the traveling time my gal has to spend on the road. And there isn’t any better option (school) in AMK. -
Hi everyone !
Wow…I see many of you are in favour of GMPS ! I’m one of the pioneers who entered the school when they converted from previously girls’ school to mixed school. I went thru Geylang Methodist Pri, Sec and later Anglo Chinese Junior College (for 3 months and I switched to poly when I cannot stand the secondary school treatment in JC).
But I didn’t consider my kid to join the school even his dad is an old boy ! They have a lot of donation drive thingy going on, and the parents have never run out of donation cards to approach their colleagues. Also, there’s this weekly chapel thingy that one has to tahan. Talking about heavy school bag, please think how heavy is the bible since this school also have weekly bible study lesson.
Also, there’s this kopitiam near the school where some kids always hang out there…a breeding ground for bad influence.
Recently my nephew just graduated from the Sec school. Like me, he went thru the Pri and Sec education. I don’t think he’s really fantastic. I just think if you really want your kid to be smart, it all boils down to home education because school education can only do so much.
Parents, choose a school which is near your residence because that will ensure your kid to reach school on time (without waking up so early for school bus) and your kid to reach home early (no excuse for them to hang out elsewhere and give the excuse the schoolbus breaks down etc)
All schools are the same in my humble opinion. -
Hi there,
Does anyone know whether KH bus transport provides pick up from Ang Mo Kio? What will be the travelling time?
I’m in dilemma now. My hubby is an ex-student of KH so our gal will be eligible under phase 2B. However, we stay in AMK which is quite far from KH. Transport will be an issue.
Appreciate if anyone can help to advise. Thanks. -
Hi,
I’m a newbie here, just join recently.
My son who will be in P1 nxt year, I’m confused abt the system too.
How to go about with registration?
I’m staying @ pasir ris but my son’s nanny is @ Aljunied. I was hoping to let my son studying in Geylang area so that the nanny can continue to take care of him.
Our choice of sch: Kwong Hua / Geylang Methodist . I know that we will be under phase 2C and we have to ballot for a place. but I was wondering if we failed to get in the sch of our choice @ geylang area can we go back to other sch @ Pasir ris? or we have to stick to MOE’s arrangement to other subsequent sch @ Geylang area.
I also hear people saying that the procedure is abit difficult if I’m using my nanny’s add to register for the sch. (like nanny need to go the MOE to prove that she is caregiver etc)
Please advise Thank you -
Ginny:
Please double check that your statistics refers to those residing 1-2km from the school. For registration using caregiver's address, MOE will categorise it as registration within 1-2km even if the caregiver stays <1km from the school.

If you fail in Phase 2C, you will need to register in Phase 2C supplementary. At that point, you can register in any schools that has vacancies left in Phase 2C (taking into consideration your success rate based on distance too, as that is already the second last registration chance).but I was wondering if we failed to get in the sch of our choice @ geylang area can we go back to other sch @ Pasir ris? or we have to stick to MOE's arrangement to other subsequent sch @ Geylang area.
Ginny:
Yes, she will need to do a http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/#statutory-declaration.I also hear people saying that the procedure is abit difficult if I'm using my nanny's add to register for the sch. Nothing is too difficult if you set your mind to get your kid into the school of your choice - people will move houses, pv etc etc.
Edit: As MMM rightfully point out, your case is a bit tricky as the nanny is not related to you. Cos MOE website states the need to submit \"documents to prove the relationship between parent and the foster parent\". -

Not quite sure but heard the school going to close down in a few years. Perhaps you may want to check with the school principal. -
Just to check. Anyone here sign up as PV for Kong Hwa Pri?
