[Bukit Merah] Primary Schools
-
Why would you want to go through the balloting process? Its a nightmare to begin with. Being a new school you are basically secured of a place or you end up taking chances wif those which are already popular in Bukit Merah area.

But even with any selling point or infrastructure it would take a few years for a school to be popular enough to conduct balloting
-
Yah...I was thinking along that line. It has to differentiate itself from others. Else how to attract students there.

Maybe they can adopt Beacon Primary as an example? Heard that school become so popular as it is an IT school? Last year a new school name Horizon Primary in Punnggol also have many places left not yet being filled up.

would think that if a school is popular there should be a good reason for it and vice versa too

Qms and titank, understand that your kids are currently in RMPS. Does the school conduct exams in P1 still. What about the work load? Is it really as heavy? This worries me more than the P1 registration excercise. :?

Yes, there will be one exam - SA2. The exam will take up 70% of the overall score.
Actually, the other schools in Bt Merah, e.g. GESPS and CHIJ Kellock, have done away with exams at P1. I think Zhangde doesn't have exam for P1s, too.witty22:
I think the first semester was more of a honeymoon period for the P1s. More will come in the second semester. What about the work load? Is it really as heavy?
If you are really worried over these issues, perhaps you would like to re-evaluate your decision? General feedback received is that the workload in RMPS is very, very high. -
Thanks for the feedback. In that case I will start preparing my daughters mindset for the workload

Yes do agreed with QMS that RMPS would be quite a stressful environment. I had spoken to the previous Vice Principal which he also agreed so. Maybe P1 1st semester is still honeymoon period, student Museum tour, zoo tour, LTA gallery etc.
Heard ZDPS is quite a relax environment where they do not have P1 examination. -

Zhangde focuses more on character development.
Heard that P1 students of GESPS made a trip to the Resorts World Sentosa! -
DS1 is registering for P1 next year and I have always been in a dilemma over choosing ZDPS or RMPS. Both are within 1km but ZDPS is within walking distance whereas RMPS need to take bus. I can register for either school as DH is GRL, so we have priority. Wondering if we should let DS1 relax and just go to ZDPS or give him a little push by enrolling him in RMPS :?

RMPS School Motto is “Work Hard, Play Hard”
ZDPS School Motto is “A Happy Learning School”
You still have 1 year to evaluate your decision, take your time.
