That’s why I don’t understand why there are people who say COP may go up so it is risky to put xx school because you may not get it.
Wow, such evil thots. I have no child in P6 this year, just to be clear.

Just put it in if you want to try. Even if you are like 4-5 points away from last year COP, as long as you have other sufficiently-lower COP schools to catch you.
This is the last year of t score - and one of the advantages is choice of school does not matter. So go for it!
(Unless you are in the situation where you may lose your affiliation bonus if your dream school is not your affiliated school and your t score may not meet the COP for non-affiliated students). -

Thanks. Meaning nanhua might increase 3 points?
Nan Hua may increase by 2 points to 248 then lose out due to balloting?
looks good, might end up in Bukit Panjang or Chung Cheng Yishun. Can also consider Swiss Cottage (242)emoh\" post_id=\"2005283\" time=\"1606545251\" user_id=\"10618:
Hi, would like to ger the advice for the choices we have. DS has 246+2
1. RV 253 (DS insists to put this though we have told him chance is almost NIL.)
2. CHS O 249
3. Nanhua 246
4. Bt panjang 244
5. Chung Cheng yishun 241
6. Yishun town 239
Is it safe enough to put yishun town as #6? Or I should another one which has even lower COP? Any other suggestions of school in west/north west area? -

I see a lot of people advising to let the child decide .
Sharing my local Singaporean friend’s son’s experience. A very high achiever from GEP steam- he chose HCI and not RI. Personally he preferred a “Chinese-cultured” environment and felt RI will be too “ang mo” and not a good fit for him. Excelling in HCI and made the right choice as parents left him to make the decision for his choices. Reason is simple. The child is the one to study in the school, so let the child make the final decision and not worry for the child.sembgal\" post_id=\"2004658\" time=\"1606400813\" user_id=\"5559:
think this is a perennial dilemma to choose between HCI vs RI. My son's score is 267+3. think he prefers HCI, mainly cos his dad is an alumnus. but personally i prefer RI due to its proximity to our home and the later starting time in the morning (745 instead of 720 of HCI , which is a good half an hour more sleep everyday). i am also impressed by RI e open house last sat, whereby the students are mixed up in different classes be it DSA or GEP kids. whereas in HCI, i think the GEP will remain in GEP classes - correct me if i am wrong.
and this morning, we did our trial to HCI by using public transport. its abt 30-40 min from our place.
well we still havent' decided which one to put as first option. open for any suggestions and comments. Eventually I think I will let the boy decide for himself.
My child has no preference , even after looking at the website and the courses/CCA offered . We don’t know what the school culture is like , only what we hear and that is so different depending on who we hear from
You can research yourself on the school cultures. There are lots of videos on YouTube posted by the schools/ current/formal students. From the activities you see on the videos you will have some
Ideas of how life will be in the school. This is the next best way to form your own opinion about the school culture -

I certainly agree with this. Just put the dream school as the first choice. It is all about demand and supply. There are 6 choices anyway. Who will know if the school is adding extra classes or reducing its class size. Who on earth will know COP for PLMGS will drop to 237. The person who choose this school is very lucky.

i think dunman high is risky. their cop is like 255, and even though it's a SAP school and your hcl points will be added (246 + 3 = 249) and 255 is kind of far from 249. and their cop has never dropped below 250 (for the past 13 years)

Dunman High's COP*
2021 -
2020 - 255 (-6)
2019 - 256 (-4)
2018 - 255 (-7)
2017 - 257 (-5)
2016 - 258 (-4)
2015 - 253 (-5)
2014 - 256 (-2)
2013 - 256 (-6)
2012 - 256 (-4)
2011 - 257 (-3)
2010 - 258 (-3)
2009 - 260 (-3)
2008 - 260 (-4)
2007 - 258 (-4)
it's usually 255+, so i dont think you can get into dunman high with 249. but if you really want to go there, then just put it there.
the others should be okay! all the best
