Very likely!. Just pray that SCGS COP does not have a large jump. All the best and congrats on your great score for PSLE!! :rahrah:
Is there a high chance to get in SCGS Sec with a t score of 254 plus 2? -
Hi, anyone happen to know the number of vacancy for this year sec 1 posting?
-
Hi All,
Does anyone know how many % of the vacancies for SCGS is allocated to their affiliated primary school students?
Does the school have many SCGS pri students enter the sec school?
My girl is not from SCGS pri but her PSLE COP (257) meets SCGS COP for IP/O level. I’m considering SCGS as one of the choice.
I realise SCGS is the only school that offers IP and O level with the same cut off point. 2019 both IP and O is at 252.
Any idea why? I thought usually IP will required higher COP than O level for those schools with dual track.
Thanks! -
Hi!
No places are set aside for affiliation to IP. So the SCGPS girls who get into IP (excluding DSA) qualify based on their T-score.
The affiliation is only to the O level programme. MOE specifies a minimum of 20% from outside of affiliated primary school. As a result there are far fewer places for non-SCGSP girls to the O level programme whereas tge whole IP programme is open to non-SCGPS girls. This explains the fairly similar cut off points to the two programmes.
Cheers

Hi lovetolearn,
Welcome to the thread.
First question is - is school fees a consideration for you?
Second and probably most importantly, does your daughter want to do the IP or O level programme?
Are there particular special programmes that your daughter is interested in?
SCGS is really easy to get to by MRT as it is literally at the doorstep of the Stevens MRT station. -
Hello,
Can any parents with existing child in this school share on the support level for IP students? Understand this will be based on individual student, are Teachers available/approachable for consultation especially in Maths/ Science subjects? -
Hi everyone! I’m going to SCGS next year, O-level track. Can anyone suggest any assessment books for me to do to prepare myself? Thanks in advance!

Actually I don't really have any basis to judge what the support level of IP is, but most girls in IP do fine, and yes, while the teacher quality is not uniform, I don't think my daughter has ever mentioned that any teacher is unapproproachable. Teachers can be approached for consultations (this probably applies to most schools).

During 1st year, we quit all tuitions and let DD1try on her own. Few months later, her form teacher rang us to discuss w us how to help DD as she wasn’t coping well. We then guided her along the way and luckily she did well in EOY exams.

Actually every year, I do receive 1 or 2 such calls from form/subject teachers if DD1 has problems.
I appreciate that the teachers are watching over her.
In IP, Teachers touch and go. Students need to learn good time management and must have the initiative to ask teachers/friends for help if not clear. Generally, teachers there are approachable.
SCGS IP is not say very stressful and definitely not cut-throat environment, girls are generally very happy! The school gave the girls lots of opportunities even if they aren’t top girls. My girl applied for Bicultural Study Prog (BSP) and the school grant her a chance to try even thou her Chinese is not fantastic (avg B4 only). She likes it a lot and I am thankful. -
