Any one know if there are more boys or girls in NHHS? And ratio? Thanks!

U mean Watsapp grp for the parents? There isn’t any. However the FT will create a Watsapp grp for the student if I remember correctly.

Hi everyone, I just went to Nan Hua to get my uniforms and such. So, on the school website it stated that for HCL, one of the options for it was to make it to top 10% in cohort. I’ve achieved that but I have yet to receive any confirmation letters for taking HCL? I need advice and if I don’t manage to make it to HCL in Sec 1, will I be able to in Sec 2, 3 or 4?

On PSLE results released day that actual day itself,
did u receive the eligibility info from MOE, informing that u qualify to study 2021 Sec 1 HCL ?
If you didn’t,
then check with Nan Hua Chinese HOD, ask whether without this eligibility letter, can Nan Hua still give u the chance to study Higher Chinese?
If HOD reply Yes,
then quickly take it up !
But if HOD reply No, Sorry,
without this MOE eligibility letter, one cannot do HCL until reach the end of Sec 1 journey time frame then re-examine again check how have u fared in your bu-hua progress so far, then u ask HOD, what are the criteria to start Sec 2 HCL ?
Two questions,
to ask Chinese HOD,
in order to formulate the qualifying criteria within Nan Hua school are -
1) minimum,
what must I score for my year-end Sec 1 bu-hua ?
Is it minimum 70 or 75 marks upwards
And
2) minimum,
what is the overall percentage expected I must achieve in my other core, essential Sec 1 subjects comprising (English, Maths, Science , and my best Humanities subject ) ?
Wish you all the best !
Sec 2 is the last boarding train, to hop onto the train to learn HCL, just in time.
Why "just in time" ?
Because
come Sec 3,
if you are a HCL student, you will be sitting for the O-level (bu-hua) National exam
And
in the Following year in Sec 4,
then take O-level (gao-hua) exam
According to SEAB,
all
Upper Secondary O-level curriculum track students can only take
either O-level (bu-hua or gao-hua) exam, within the same year.
But , cannot take both exam in the same year.
These are clear instructions from SEAB, given to All Secondary schools’ Chinese Department, in Singapore.
Conclusion
If you are able to make it in time to start learning HCL from Sec 2 onwards, then you will be
1) in time to take O-level (bu-hua or Standard Chinese) exam, in Upper Sec 3
And
2) in time to take O-level (gao-hua or Higher Chinese) exam, in Sec 4
However,
If you missed the Sec 2 chance to learn HCL , means
3) you can only sit for O-level (bu-hua) in Sec 4
And
4) continue to take Chinese in JC1, assuming you are heading for the JC path & not Polytechnic venue -

Thank you so much. I didn’t receive the eligibility letter but the official MOE website stated that the top 10% of PSLE cohort is eligible for HCL? I’m very confused as I am in the top 10% of the PSLE cohort.
