I prefer individual or small group tuition. This way, every student gets enough attention and can get their voices/questions addressed. Some children, especially those who are not out-spoken like my child do not do well in classroom setting (similar to school) and thus thrive in smaller, cozier groups. I personally feel that they can benefit from peer-to-peer competition/motivation, it also doesn’t allow them to slack or space out as compared to a large group.

I hired an English tutor for my child through an agent and was lucky to find someone whom my child was comfortable with and had the heart to teach. Trust me, some tutors are just ‘doing their job’ and I even went to a centre who’s administrator told me they only accept students who are of a certain grade (the audacity!)
Anyway, long story short, my child benefited from said private tutor, I initially had doubts about the candidates I am being recommended by 3rd party agents but think we got lucky.

Agreed with @carefam. Same experience happened to me but for science tuition in my earlier post in this thread. Though for me the difference is that i found my science tutor from KSP (3rd party agents can be hit and miss at times from experience). I think with private one to one tutor (full time ones) they are more dedicated as they are running their own business per se, and will like to ensure that they do their best in helping the student rather than \"just doing their job\". Also happens that my child is able to thrive studying in a 1-1 setting.


Anyhow exam season is coming and good luck to all parents and kids taking the exams!
