School starts at 730am officially. There’ll be girls in school as early as 630 onwards.

For year 1s, they end some days at 1230pm +study blocks, other days at 1.30pm +study blocks. Study blocks are part of school time, they are about an hour long. Teachers can book the study blocks to give the girls more information, group-work time or instructions especially closer to exams. The girls didn’t really use the study blocks in the first few months.

CCA are usually on Tuesday/Thursday, ends at 530-6pm for my daughter. If they start early, they end earlier.

usually 2 days a week! some ccas (especially sports/vpa ccas) will have 3 sessions a week during peak periods like competition/syf season

Also, what’s the recommended weekly allowance for RGS girls? Do the girls bring cash or is there an electronic payment method in school?

Lastly, I would be grateful for any advice from RGS parents and RGS girls on how best to help my daughter with the transition to secondary school e.g. tips on how to manage time and cope with studies, and tips which would be helpful for new Year 1 girls!

Currently they are only required to wear formal uniform on hall assembly days. Other days they can wear PE shirt with culottes or any other official T-shirt with culottes. If they happen to have pe on the same day as hall assembly they have to bring along their blouse and tie to change.
As to whether if this will change next year, I am not sure. To be safe, you can purchase two sets of formal uniform and 2 sets of culottes/pe shirt

We bought 2 sets of uniforms (blouse/pinofore), 3 sets of PE attire (polo tee/culottes/shorts), socks and a tie. The girls wear uniform for assembly days. So far so good.

No electronic payment. It’s really up to you to give your girl.. $5 should be sufficient. Chicken katsu rice $2.50, drink $1, ice cream $2. I think can give more, $5.50 ? ... *wink

Girls must learn to be independent. Let them work things out themselves and be a listening ear, be there. They are good at everything and will eventually be excellent at what they put their heart in. Actually year 1, not a lot of work. Let them adapt to the new environment, honeymoon, make new friends.

Thanks too for the advice on letting the girls figure it out. Just that my girl is my eldest and I have no idea how to deal with a secondary school teenager. Also, up to now, she's been depending on me to plan her work schedule etc. I want to let go but also worried about dropping her completely. 😅
