As far as I know, you can buy the uniform online only during the annual textbook order period in Nov-Dec from Popular bookstore at textbook.popular.com.sg.
Otherwise, you have to make a trip down to the Popular Bookstore in HCI canteen to buy the uniform. You can ask your boy to buy directly from the bookstore. The bookstore contact number printed in the booklist is 6469 3617.

May I know what is the project requirements as they progress to JC stage?

Do they still form groups like in High School?

How about the topic of their project? And are they also supposed to find their own mentor?

              Thanks parents for your advice.

In JC, there is a compulsory A level
Module called Project Work where students from groups of 4 or 5 will tackle a present problem (from a list of possible themes/topics). The project includes both individual/group written report as well as individual/group presentations under the guidance of an assigned teacher from the jc. Typically more than 80% from Hci scores A for Project Work.

Is the problem (from a list of themes/topics) already defined / must pick from what is on the list (i.e. common menu provided to all A Level students)?

The HCI secondary boys have a graded subject called Project Work with both written reports and group presentations. However, the project or task itself is quite open ended, and the kids can do anything from say resource development, invention, service learning, etc.

From the limited knowledge I gathered from my eldest, there is a list of themes to choose from….I am not sure if it’s by MOE or the JC itself.I believe the list is quite comprehensive though. My girl did financial innovation so perhaps the theme is technology.

                      Hi,

Are there any parents here whose child got in to HCI via DSA with lower PSLE scores than the S1 Intake cut off? Do you mind sharing the learning journey your child had in HCI?

My concerns are around catching up academically as well as the opportunities to partake in special programs/immersion trips/events/student councils/etc…

                      Thank you!

Thanks for the useful information! May I know if they should form their groups now or at a later stage when they have firmed up their class/subjects in JC?

Are they free to form groups with anyone in the same JC or there are certain restrictions eg. Within the same stream (eg. Science/arts)? Cause I foresee that there are new admissions from students taking the O level this year, as well as from NYG.
