Hi, may I ask if the briefing was for parents of previous GEP children who will be posted to iSpark or from mainstream? Thanks![/quote]
The briefing was for parents of GEP and mainstream children.
According to the director, there is no GEP in secondary, it is just that Hwa Chong has this consortium to cater to this higher ability group with more content convered.

GEP kids from what I know, auto allocated to iSpark. For non-GEP, based on the webinar is based on DSA records, clear strengths, AL score.
Hi, during the briefing were there parents of GEP kids? I didn't receive any notification of the briefing but my child was from GE. So I'm not sure if it's missed out. Thanks for ur reply.

I think it's for non-GEP kids only. I rmb reading somewhere that every year there's a briefing for non-GE kids entering iSpark.

If anyone attended the online webinar by HCI after the PSLE results were released, it was mentioned that in 2023, the PLD selected is Lenovo Yoga 3 and that there will be a parents briefing scheduled on 11 Jan to share about further details. Unsure whether in-person or online but they will probably inform us in due course. I believe that they will share about the specs and cost during this briefing. Besides being able to draw upon Edusave to purchase the PLD, I also find the warranty and insurance attractive which normally we dont get if we purchase on our own. I just hope that they select a model which is as light-weight as possible and as energy efficient as possible. I read somewhere on HCI webpage that students are required to charge their machines at home and not use the school’s power points. Not sure how strict that they enforce this but wonder they realize that basic lightweight notebooks usually able to power not more than 3-6 hours, so at some point, they will need to be recharged if they are required to use their PLDs for extended periods. With rising energy costs, this is of course understandable. For those who use MacBooks, it seemed that the PLD must be Windows-based.

My son said that there are lockers in every classroom. No need to register or rent. He said it is under utilised as people tend to just put their items under their desk and things wouldn't go missing.

Hi, Just curious for mainstream students who got accepted into isparks, do the kids generally have to obtain perfect score of 4D for psle?
