If she is indeed Rosyth Alumni, the first important thing she need to confirm is : got any school bus from her house (near HGS), go to Rosyth @ Serangoon North ?
She’s Rosyth Alumni, Guess she’s stays near HGS and not sure want to go back Rosyth or not
zac's mum\" post_id=\"1922372\" time=\"1563962445\" user_id=\"53606:
Yeah. Why not just move to <1km of Rosyth and join the balloting. If balloted out, you can still get into Haig Girls at 2CS, no?
If suppose no school bus, next question is : how to go Rosyth then, everyday ? Does she drive, her spouse drive, then what about the return trip back home from school, who fetch ? If cannot resolve transport issue, then only way out is, choose Haig Girls. As long as her daughter is SC, is safe for HGS -

Thank you all for your response! Yes Davis is correct - we live near HGS and are not sure if we should put our kid (and ourselves) through the trouble of commuting to Rosyth. We have visited both schools and have also spoken to some parents whose children are in each of the schools, but are still not sure of the decision to make - thus hoping to gather some insight from parents whose children have been to both Rosyth and HGS here!

Hi my daughter will be going to Haig girls in January 2020 in P1 . I stay in marine parade . Want to get in touch with the parents who stay in marine parade and we can go for a private car As I know someone so that kids pick up time can be saved . The school bus by the bus coordinator of school pick up time for marine terrace is too early . So pl parents contact me on this number 83639960 as I have one option for personal bus and it’s trustworthy and reasonable and pick up time is also very nice .

Hi my daughter is PR non chinese speaker and stay 1-2km. I wanted your kind advice 1) do you think any chance this year 2) how are the teachers and how is the stress level? 3) Is there a school bus to siglap (and if yes what time pick up). 4) if you were in doubt about a girl or non girl school and you decided yes are you happy with the decision and why? I wanted OPERA Estate but with the cap in PRs I am considering Haig Girls (I have three daughters so should be good).
thanks a lot

SPR need to go ballot some years not all. My dd went through ballot as PR outside 2 km few years ago. Teachers are motivating and stress level is not high like other more academic schools. A balanced focus on arts and fun learning where kids are taught values leadership and independence. Girls school can focus on topics such as maths thru Arts and provide enrichment such as ballet and in fact comparatively more focus on sports such as soccer netball etc without any gender bias or comparison which could creep up in coed.

Your questions are very valid. I have friends who are alumni of XXX primary school and want to try 2A but staying beyond 2/3/4km. They have no car and are keen for school bus but at the same time worried that the child needs to wake up super early 5 school days a week for the next 6 years of the life. Self procastinating. :scratchhead:

If u stay far away from those popular primary school, eg. GEP school & have to wake up very early morning everyday (Mon - Fri) at 5+ just to board (catch) the school bus, and yet not mentally prepared to do so, might as well give up your Phase 2A (old student) slot.
Example
My friend stayed in Pasir Ris.
She gave up her Phase 2A old-girl slot for RGPS (Raffles Girls primary school), a very popular GEP school. Because
she wants her Primary 1 daughter to have sufficient sleep, and not wake up 5.15 am, just to catch school bus to RGPS, at 5.40 am.
In the end, she just enrolled her daughter into a neighbourhood school nearer, much closer in the east. That is, CHIJ Katong primary, and gave up RGPS.
Anyway, at the end of P6, if you are good, if u are hardworking, u will still be able to make it to one of those better Secondary schools, be it via DSA or via PSLE results. -
Hi - anyone have any up to date details on parent volunteering? PR living 500m away - worried about 2026 intake.
