Will HCI send the sec 1 booklist earlier for boys who are entering via DSA since the posting is out on PSLE day.

Those who accepted DSA offers would have a letter from school. Can use the letter to enter school to visit and buy books and uniform before sec 1 posting results.
Some schools will provide earlier info to dsa students, while other confirmed students can contact their schs to ask for booklist. Not difficult to get booklist nowadays, can find on website. Applies for not just hci.

my son got a AL2 for chinese and Merit for Hcl… should he be trying for hwa choing? His Chinese is not very good

It’s perfectly fine. My DS didn’t even do HCL in Pri School. (My DD neither, in another school). But both did HCL in Sec School. You don’t have to be strong in Chinese to enjoy and benefit from a HCI education.

I’ve read somewhere that shoes should be blk/dark blue. Is it OK to be 70% or must be really all dark? For socks, must be all white or can sports logo be accepted?

Hi parents. Is it necessary to buy all the books on the booklist? My DD said teachers hardly use textbooks especially for math and science coz teachers will give out their own materials.

Yes. They never use the maths textbooks ans science textbook at all, notes are given. At least my ds refer to the science textbooks (for 4 yrs) when he wants read up more details. I remember that they also didn't touch the literature text too (at least for my ds case). 🤷🏻‍️
