      jkids\" post_id=\"2128291\" time=\"1706749909\" user_id=\"6320:

thanks all appreciate your advice, will appeal!

actually i am confused how the selecting system work.
      eg nyjc net is 5.
his fren got 9-4 = net 5 and got into nyjc
and why my child hit the net but cannot enter ...
Posting into JCs, is based on Merit.
The sequence of your ordering inside your 12 choices submitted, does NOT matter.

The only thing that matters, is based on Merit.
      Your O-level results.

The better your original Raw score is, you will be assigned (secured) a seat first, before the others.

      ==========================

What is Eunoia Junior College Cut off point, for Science stream?

      Answer : nett 6 (L1R5)

      Example
      =======

      say,
these three Singapore-Citizenship applicants (X, Y, Z) all applied to Eunoia JC. And all 3 of them happen to have a nett 6 (L1R5). However, their original Raw score is very different.

      1)

X (applicant to Eunoia JC, Science stream) :

His Raw score is 7, but never sat for Higher Chinese (O-level). Gotten discounted only 1 point for his Cca in National Police Cadet Corp (Uniform group), because he was busy mugging for his O-level, put in little minimal effort, in his Cca.

Thus, his nett score equal to
7 minus 1, end up with nett 6.

      2)

Y : second applicant to Eunoia JC (Science stream)

Her original Raw score is 8, also never taken Higher Chinese (O level). Got discounted 2 points for her strong Cca Leadership in Girl Guide (Uniform group).

      Thus, her score equal to
      8 minus 2, equal to nett 6.

      3)

Z : third applicant to Eunoia JC (Science stream)

Her original Raw score is 10.
She sat for her HCL (O-level).
She scored 2 points for her Cca (school debate team).

      Thus, her nett L1R5 is

      10 - 2 - 2 = nett 6.

      ======================

What happen, during MOE posting, into Eunoia JC ?

X and Y both got posted into Eunoia C, successfully.

X with a better Raw score at 7 got posted in first,
      before Y with Raw 8.

But Z with Raw 10, failed to get in. But, Z can proceed to appeal.

      Why ?

The one with the best original Raw score gets posted in first, before the others.

        just a thought.

what if the appeal is successful and for some reason the child decided to stay on with the current jc, can we reject the appeal and stay with current jc?

          Yes, u can.

Just tell the Principal (offering JC) that u have decided to stay on. Thank the P, for his (her) kind consideration. The Principal will just offer the vacancy to the next pupil, on the wait list. As long as u have not signed the withdrawal form from your current JC posted to, u can back out. Because MOE has not been informed of your intention to withdraw / Transfer yet.

The Transfer process, is like this.

          1)
if you have been shortlisted for an interview by the receiving (offering) JC, go for it.

The Principal will ask u some questions about yourself, and why are you keen to appeal.

          2)
if suppose you are successful for the Appeal, the offering JC will give u a form.

You will sign on this form, confirming the acceptance of the Transfer. Then, u bring this form back to your current, posted JC, let the P there sign for permission, to release u.

          3)
After the P has signed the form to release u, you then bring this form back to the receiving (offering) JC, who has accepted you, for the Transfer.

The admin staff in the General Office will then submit to MOE, for processing.

          4)
After receiving the documents, the MOE staff will update all your particulars inside their MOE centralised computer database. This way, your appeal has been successful.

Before the Appeal verdict is out, just attend the orientation programme, in your current posted JC. Do not buy any new school uniform nor text books yet.

2024 Cut off point for Science stream in Eunoia JC is nett 6, for students who have sat for 2023 O-level.

Some "Singapore Citizenship" JAE students with nett 6, failed to enter into EJC. Not all applicants with nett 6, can enter. Why ?

The FURTHER your original Raw score from the nett COP,
the slimmer … your chance is.
                    Eg.
                    Some with

                    10 - 4 = nett 6,

failed to enter into Science stream (EJC)

Oh okay I think we all have different views on what we are looking for in JC. With the universities moving towards aptitude-based admissions, I don’t see the main aim of JC is to solely to achieve good A level results. But I respect those who view it as the main aim and use results as the main yardstick of JC selection.

I’m glad that the JC scene is more variegated now - you have different JCs with different cultures and mix of students, to cater to different students and their interests and personalities. I don’t see EJC as an under-performer in any way. The three feeder IP schools have never been the very top schools in Singapore - they have always been good schools, but not in the Raffles league. However, their alumni are outstanding in many fields - they are represented in diverse fields from Medicine and Finance, to the Sports and Politics. I am not terribly surprised nor concerned that EJC’s results are not at the very top. I guess I am more curious to see how the JC forges its path as the newest entity to the scene.
