These are good instructions, but once we are in the water, instinct takes over and there goes the conventional wisdom!

You’re absolutely right! Once we’re in the water, it often becomes a more instinctual experience. That’s the beauty of swimming—it combines technique with our natural instincts. But even as our instincts take over, the foundation of conventional wisdom and proper training helps us feel more confident and efficient in the water. So, it’s great to let instincts guide us, but that training always has our back!

@Kadenn Absolutely! Swimming is not only a fun activity but also a vital life skill. It builds confidence, enhances physical fitness, and most importantly, teaches water safety, which is crucial for every child. Making swimming accessible from an early age sets them up for a lifetime of benefits both in and out of the water.

I completely agree! Swimming is such an important skill for kids to learn. Not only does it help keep them safe around water, but it also boosts their confidence and gives them a great way to stay active and healthy. Plus, it’s a fun way for them to enjoy the water and make lasting memories.

It’s unfortunate to hear that when we teach the school’s Swim Safer program, many students have never entered a pool before. It really shows how crucial these programs are. I remember when more students were able to swim confidently in the deep pool during lessons, but now it seems like fewer than 20 students can manage it. It’s a real change, and it highlights the need to ensure kids are getting proper swim education from an early age, so they feel comfortable and safe in all water environments.

@Kadenn True. My child swims surprisingly well because we started lessons at an early age. As for me, I never learned because I have a fear of water.
