I am really glad to see MOE opening up French and German to more students, and on a modular basis. For the longest time, it was only opened to a select group who qualify based on PSLE grades, and it follows a set schedule and structure.

I think this was announced a few years ago. Nice to see they ramped up the intake from 120 students to 500 students (I think the first year had over 1,500 applicants).

I guess this is the difference between learning for fun and learning for a grade. Probably 1/2 of the people in the traditional track drop L3 within a year.

I came across this TedX talk on YouTube video before on how language can shape one’s thinking. English is a language that has lots of “me” “I”. Typical English sentence would be “the vase is broken by Tom”. In Spanish, it would be “the vase is broken” - the actor is general not part of the sentence structure. Studying different languages opens up more ways of thinking. It offers the types of effect that interdisciplinary studies can bring upon.
