I have been dealing with recurring heel pain for several weeks. Rest helps temporarily, but the pain comes back once I become active again. What should I do?

If rest only gives you temporary relief, having your heel checked is definitely the right next step. I suffered from recurring heel pain that was especially sharp during those first morning steps. Dr Yung Shing Wai diagnosed it as plantar fasciitis and performed surgery when other treatments didn’t work. And in my experience, he is a top foot surgeon in Singapore.😊

@aliciang If it’s plantar fasciitis (and that’s one of the most common causes), stretching, not rest, helps. Look online - there’s lots of advice. I suffered from plantar fasciitis several years ago, and did the stretches every morning and it got a lot better. I rarely have pain now, and when I do (because I don’t do the stretches much now), a couple of days of stretches fixes the pain. I would recommend you try stretching first, and see. If stretching doesn’t help, then see a doctor.
