if that's the case, I think Radin Mas is a better choice. πŸ™‚ I dunno, that's my preference. My kid didnt get into RMPS but I've heard a lot of good stuffs about this school. Higher portfolio than RVPS.

Zhangde is quite a new school and the school portfolio's are improving. They ran into ballot last year probably due to higher demand around Bukit Merah especially CHIJ & RMPS. Thus many turns to Zhangde.

I visited both schools & like RVPS better in terms of environment cos its newer. Radin Mas is pretty old & the admin office is quite messy - not sure if this reflects the school management 😐

But then I'm aware that Radin Mas seem to have pretty decent results compared to RVPS.

This is a stressfull decision to make!! I will be under Phase 2B (since within 2 km) for both but we will not know if ballot is required. If i'm fine with either school, what should I do to make sure I get into 1 of these 2 schools eventually? Do I have to embed 1 parent in each school also? Sorry if the qn sounds dumb..

haha.. looks like you have your choice obvious. You had PV done for both schools? In order to be in Phase 2B, you must have done 40 hours PV in both the schools to be able to \"choose\". I don't remember RMPS and/or RVPS had ballot @ Phase 2B. So it is pretty safe for you, \"hopefully\". You must know your phase well before you even start choosing. If you are in Phase 2C within 1km, you are still in the safe circle. But if you are within 2 km... then you better do your homework nicely.

              Hi sumo22,

I also would be in Phase 2B when considering both schools (River Valley & Radin Mas). Here are my analysis based on the 2 schools

              River Valley Pri
School environment seem newer, maybe the building was new & they moved in March 2004.
It is surrounded by mainly private estates & quite many foreign students can be found in that school.
PSLE results seem good except in 2008 did not have any student scored 275.
New principal appointed on 1 Jan 2009.

              Radin Mas Primary
Building is old as it present location since 1984.
Good PSLE results since 2000,almost every year have top student hit 275 points.
Principal is good in achieving results as she was from Rulang Primary.

                Hi Titank,

Based on your analysis, seems like Radin Mas is the clear choice. What’s your thots? Have you decided?

My son is born in 2004. Is your child born in 2004 or 2005?

Mine born in 2003, so left 3 months to do evaluation. 2004 still a long way for you to go!

                    hi Titank,

Mine is not a long way to go cos to sign up for PV, the deadline for those born in 2004 is Jun 09!

Do you think you can keep me posted on your decision? Just want to have more reference points for consideration πŸ™‚

I visited RVPS over a Sat couple weeks ago & they had many activities going on - wushu, rollerblading & something else. Looks like a happy school. I also saw a letter from Nan Hua Pri addressed to principal of RVPS congratulating the school for the outstanding students who completed their PSLE. The students were transferred to Nan Hua for SAP from RVPS.

I will visit Radin Mas again one of these weeks to check out if it was still as "dead" as the Sat when I went down a couple mths back.

                      Hi,

Radin Mas would be very strong in IT.

                        titank:
Anyone have any extra information on Radin Mas Primary School?

Does P1, P2 in the afternoon session where one of the weekday must to go in the morning?

When they reach P3 onwards how often do they require to stay back in the afternoon?
Heard have to pay extra $$ to the school bus operator?

Anyone can explain what all these achievements means:

                        Radin Mas Primary
Achievements in 2008 for Primary Level

Special Award : School Distinction Award
Physical Aestsetics : ****** (2 Stars In Red)
Best Practices : * (1 Star in Red)
Ok, what i understand from a neighbour on RMPS:
                        - P1 & P2 are PM session, but every Friday AM session due to CCA...
                        - Lots of homeworks...
                        - kids looks happy and not stressed
                        - Principal stuckup (but produced good track record)
