Initially I also thought the same as you that Maths & Science are more important, but after witnessing my nephew's case, I realised that actually all subjects are equally important. My nephew's Maths & Science are always top in class, but his Chinese is really terrible. His Engish is around average. So when he sat for his PSLE a few years back, he got 2 A* ( Maths & Science), 1A ( English) and C for the Chinese. His agg score is only around 235. The reason his teacher gave was the Maths & Science only takes up 50% each wherelse the English & Chinese takes up 100% each.He got a friend who got As for his languages but B and C for his Maths & Science. His friend's agg score is better than him.
It is a misconception! All 4 subjects have equal weightage in PSLE.

As mentioned, I was told and read frm other forum CF is good in language whereas Northland is good in Math and Science. My kids child care has after and before school care student. Happen spoke to the principal about the standard of Northland. She said no doubt in Northland's math compared to other neighbourhood school. This 2 subjects are what I am looking compared others. I prefer my kids doing well in other subject rather than Eng and Chinese.

Where did you hear that from? Unless there is some statistics to show that, I am usually quite skeptical on some of the hear-say from some parents.

                Hi lwm99,

I just happen to search the info.

Can't compared 2008 PSLE result as CF didn't indicate % of the result.

                  Hi lwm99,

At first I also thought this way too since the total score is 300, but after reading another thread written by csc about T score, I finally understand how it works. It seems that many parents have this misconception. Thks for your clarification.

To me it seems like generally CF has better results in all 4 subjects than Northland. So still makes sense to choose CF over Northland.

did you compared wrong infor? For me it seems Northland is doing better compared CF . 6 out of 4 subject Northland % is higher than CF except English and Chinese. Anyway, this is just a statistic. Whatever it is still depend on how well the kids can cope. cheers.
