How do you like the school (NJC)?

I would say I've never regretted coming here πŸ˜„ Although I admit the campus is pretty old, we are currently having renovations. The Integrated Programme is good for students who don't want to take O levels as usual. The school stresses that without having to take 'O's it gives a better opportunity for students to get exposed to more other activities for the first few years. πŸ™‚ And NJC really emphasizes on personal development and exposure to new stuffs and is not really the 'very stressful' kind that will give students a lot of stress. I would say NJC is a very considerable choice for your daughter (of course it does depends on her willingness). All the best to her πŸ˜„

      Hey Percalis,
255 - real risky to put 1st choice NYGH and 2nd choice RGS. Your daughter may not get either coz by the time NYGH is full, RGS would also be full. If you want to try then it's either NYGH or RGS. Then if she doesn't get it , then appeal.
Hi hi,
Thanks. I also told her not to do tt - I'm more comfortable if she puts NJC as 1st choice. She still wants to put NYGH as 1st choice, skip RGS and put NJC as 2nd choice. Will just let her try, so have no regrets.

Actually, looking at the COP for last yr, she's just not good enough for NYGH and RGS. NJC can try if can add 2 pts for HCL. All other schools no problem πŸ™‚

Hi, mine got 209. Having headache too on selecting reputable school around Bishan, AMK , Toa Payoh area.
If you don't mind a small school with strict discipline, you can try Peirce Sec (along Upper Thomson Road). Main entrance from Sin Ming Road (beside Bishan Park Secondary School).

PSS is strong in uniform groups.

First thing first, where are you staying and I suppose you are a girl?

Yup, i am a girl, i am staying in the North.Do u thing i could put Chung Cheng High(Yishun) as my 1st choice??? :? Maybe i could put Mayflower as the second choice. I would like find out how is Holy Innocents' High. Can i put Nan Chiau High too???I would also put Orchid Park Secondary as one of my choices. Wat school do u thing i can go into.. :? 😞 :?: If my results were better, i would not need to fret over these school thingys...!!!:) :D
Holy Innocent High is not recommended.

          What's the COP for CCH(Y)?

          Mayflower is not bad.

Again, for those in the north and got around 208 - 230, I would recommend that you check out Peirce Secondary School.
They are strict on discipline. Small school of 6 classes per level, usually 4 Express and 2 NA. They got NO NT students in this school (plus point for parents worried abt 'bad influences').

No comments/feedback about SJI, but you might want to consider SJI's Independent status and the soon to be implemented IP when you make your choice?

              Hi 25hour,

You mean if i chose SJI, My son may be able to switch to IP

A bit tough for me since I am in North East, but no harm trying ...

CCH Yishun might be a bit risky for you since their COP has remained at 230 for the past two years.

Heard that Ahmad Ibrahim is not bad and it's in Yishun and I think you stand a good chance if you put that in.

No comments about Mayflower and Orchid Park though.

Holy Innocents and Nan Chiau might be a bit far for you.

I agree with meow_ as I don't think that \"RJC is top by a mile\" in every department; both HCI and RI has her strengths and weaknesses. It is better to match her interests with the strengths of the secondary school (and the JC eventually).

Have you actually seen the A level results? Just to fill you in. RJC had 362 students with perfect 80 points for entry to Uni. That is out of a cohort of 1285. (28.2%). Hwa Chong had 212 out of 1104 perfect scores (19.2%)

On the flipside, HC produced more PSC scholars than RJ. It really depends on the individual, and I agree with kiasuest2 that it's better to match your child's interests with the strengths of the secondary school or she won't be happy no matter how good the school is.
Hey meow, you mean that Hwa Chong produced more PSC scholars than RJC THIS YEAR? or in the past? I agree that in the past, Hwa Chong is top but in recent years, I find that RJC's A levels far better than Hwea Chong. I think that is because with the IP programme, many good students from RI, RGS , Dunman High now don't go to Hwa Chong but go to RJC and stay in Dunman High. So Hwa Chong has lost a lot of top students.

You are right. Ahmad Ibrahim is not bad. The staff culture there is good (happy teachers = good teaching = students benefit).
