Puzzled about the Bonus Point of Higher Chinese for SAP schools: will the 1-3 Bonus Point be added in the score directly or it only works when the candidates' score are same? For example, my aughter got 260+3, will her score be 263 when she apply NYHS? or still 260 but the 3 will be added only when other candidates are also 260? in other words, if there is one 260+3 and one 262, who has the chance?
The HMT can only be used for application to SAP schools, so in your eg, if there is one seat left at NYGH, the one with 260+3 would have priority over the one with 262. Hope that helps.
So for your girl's case, if she wants to apply to NYGH, her T-score is 263, but if she wants to try Cedar, for eg, her T-score is 260. -
25hourmaid:
thanks 25hour maid! With 2 points for HMT, that would give her 241. Can try Anglican High too. Also a SAP school, so the HMT points would be useful. AHS's COP last year was 240, so I think your girl stands a good chance.
And since you are at Serangoon area, Xinmin can be considered too.
Tell her it is not the end of the world that she's not able to get into her dream school. There are other good schools around.
DD is a brave girl. She is feeling quite positive now after we went round some other schools.
AHA in Tanah Merah too far liao ! -

Endeavour Primary School is in Sembawang area with its first batch of P6 students this year, the school is in its 3rd yr. The Principal super nice & caring emphasing moral character building. He was previously the principal of Nan Chiau (hope I spelled it right). Considering first batch with top scorer 269- got potential... Go check out the school website if considering options beside Canberra Pri/ Sembawang Pri/ Wellington Pri.

For SAP schools, they will grab 260+ 3 1st, then 263 + 0 , this is their rules. -
Thank you experiencedmother.
JRexpress, why not consider Zhonghua? It is quite convenient since you stay in Serangoon. I'm not sure about Nan Chiau but both my girls went to Chung Cheng Main. One went on to NYJC and the other to VJC.experiencedmother:

Forget about Cedar, unless yr kid has something good to offer on appeal.
Personally think Nan Chiau should be your top choice. Its results are going great guns. As your kid is a HMT pupil, no need to worry about affiliation pt later.
Since Cedar is quite out of the question, consider bringing her to the school open houses (those that you're considering) to take a look. She might like the environment there. Who knows?
we brought her to Chung Cheng today, she likes the programmes and environment there.
Can you kindly share more thoughts and experience about this school.[/quote
yaya, plse share your thoughts and experience about Chung Cheng. we went for the Open House. Like the school environment. Feel like an overseas school becos of its spaciousness and lake. The PSG is strong.
But the school seems to be declining in terms of COP and GCE O Level results. -
All of you want your children to go to RGS / NYGH , but why not try Cedar Girls’ ? Heard that it is quite a good school - has a president scholar, academics and cca all quite strong.

As per booklet, 214.. my friend advised me to +5-7 pt as this yr standard might raise. If yes, my girl will not be able to get in
Actually the standard of these schools are about the same. If I were you, I would look for one which have achieved the value added award CONSISTENTLY over the last few years.
You can try Deyi Sec. But not too sure about their COP.bigfoot:

area- Bishan, AMK or Toa Payoh. Sorry, please don't feel offended. I mean I need school with less \"ah beng\". After seeing news on gang fights, I'm worried.
Another thing u may want to consider. The CCA the school offered. It is good to go to one that offer the CCA u may be interested in. Just my 2-cent.
